Description Welcome, all who will gaze, at GO G's 100th Entry!!!!!! I decided a while ago that 10 would be one of my favorite monsters, and now my wish is coming true. Irys, the only Gamera monster I thought was cool at first glance, is in GO G. Why? One, he fits. Two, he's cool. Three, I've wanted a way to bring him in from the beginning. Four, he's cool. I actually was going to make him serve Gigan's role in Final War, but I realized with Gekido-Jin and what not, he was perfect here. I thought bout putting Amano Shiratori as the Final Boss of GMK, but Irys is technically a phoenix too..... Well, enough from me. Bio time!

Bio

"Gojirans, even in weakness, don't know the meaning of the word lose. But this case was a little different. Gekido-Jin was different from the creatures he'd faced in the past. He fought with the manic glee of a beast set free from it's cage, to devour those who mocked it. His hammer could topple mountains, his armor could repel Godzilla's fire, and his strength was that of river. But, I bet you're thinking, how do we know how this fight happened. Well, it just so happened that a low budget news program was filming there about the 'ancient monster of the mountain'. Most notably, the reporter, Yuri Tachibana, daughter of the current leader of the JSDF, Taizo Tachibana. She considered herself 'down on her luck' at the time, but this was the break she wanted. Godzilla, quite possibly the most iconic thing the Japanese, fighting her 'monster,' a massive ogre. Attention turned, but suddenly the Gotengo arrived. Godzilla was cornered.

But Gekido-Jin had been sleeping in the shrine a little too long to know of human flight. He immediately began throwing boulders at the ship, and not little ones. Hill sized ones, which they weren't quite capable of deflecting. Godzilla, eager to get away from this ship that captured his friends, slipped away, this time headed west. And, the JSDF, estimating his route, prepared for the absolute worst. Godzilla was entering Kyoto."

Eric knew what that meant through his studies of Japanese culture. Kyoto itself is a priceless treasure to Japan, any destruction would be irreplacable.

"Well, they knew destruction was inevitable, as he couldn't be swayed from his path even by aerial attack. They hoped to at least drive him away, but they weren't counting on it. They'd never managed to beat him on their own. But, ancient Japan held a few more secrets than they realized.

Godzilla wanted to simply get away, but Kyoto was in his path. But, when he got too close to Kiyomizu Temple, a strange light emerged from it's halls, from a strange, Obsidian jewel long kept secret to all but a select few. Turns out, in ancient times, a phoenix came to Kyoto, but not out of peace. The creature was defeated by priests, and sealed, bound to protect ancient Kyoto, though the borders had certainly now changed. Godzilla had treaded too far. Now Irys had awoken, and he would drive this threat away."

"Irys?" Eric's mom kept a flower pot outside their apartment in New York when he was younger, and somehow that was all he could picture.

"Doesn't look much like a phoenix, to be honest..." Tatsuo calmly interjected. "Ken, tell him more."

"Right, right. Well, the fight was rather interesting, I'll tell you. Godzilla managed to keep it at bay, but that creature was all over him. Tentacles stabbing, blades cutting the air, and balls of energy being shot. But, Godzilla wasn't taking this quietly. The spiral beam did outstanding damage, and his skin deflected most physical attacks. But, that and one other thing. At one point, Irys managed to stab Godzilla with an arm blade, and began syphoning his energy. But Godzilla began taking it back, and then took HIS energy, too. His spines glowed purple for one instant, and one loosing of his breath later, and Irys was gone. But not dead, the jewel he was bound too is still there, waiting for another chance to rise. And Godzilla manged to disappear once again."

"Dag....." Eric marveled. This is the kind of stuff that G-Force handles, huh? I'll have my work cut out for me.... Wait, we've been rambling this whole time! I'm here to join G-force, not listen to-

"You want to hear about Monster Island now?" Kenichi calmly asked. Erics thought was never finished, or remembered.

Abilities

-It's origins are an unknown at this point, though it somehow has become the guardian of Kyoto

-Powerful blades can drain energy, then shoot it out through the apparatus on each tentacle

For some reason, this guy: always reminds me of Irys. Maybe its his 'helmet' like head.

Yeah, I'm an Irys fan, and I never once did say GO G was exclusively Godzilla.... Plus, it's for deviation 100, so I had to draw a favorite of mine.

Another monster who has had her origin muddied from her creation. I'm not a huge Gamera fan, but I've always liked that Turtle and the "demon birds" that he has taken down over the years.

A personal fantasy of mine would be Ghyose(sp?) vs Rodan, battle for the skies! lol

But back to Irys here, hard to really screw up her design, it's always been a bit all over the place, so... *thumbs up*

Her?

Uh, dude, Irys is genderless. It's an "It".

Due to the female stereotyped name I use the female pronoun with Irys and if it is genderless then it really doesn't matter if I call it a he/she or even hir.

But because of the name I just find it easier to call it a she, besides it's also funnier.
