I found a really nice deal for $6.88. I got Gali Nuva and Kohrok-Kal. Both with all their pieces, both with their original containers, and both with the miniature comic booklet. Kohrok had his original instruction booklet as well. The only thing missing for the two sets was Gali's instructions, and the small pc disk that bohrok-kal normally came with.

So... of this series of sets, do you have a favorite?

This one is a combiner, not a set

I mean, of all these Rahi and Dark Hunters, the ones that aren't official (boxed on the shelf) sets, which are your favorites. I'm including combiners as well as other creations for the Bionicle Canon that weren't released like normal sets.

Mmmmh... Maybe Lurker and Ancient. Really good ones.
About classic combiners I think about the Niazesk.
About Rahi, maybe the Metru Mantis
What are yours ?

I'm not entirely sure, I think I'll have to say Tahtorak. He has a really cool looking build, and an interesting part in the story.
Also, I found this Bionicle Book that's kind of an encyclopedia for all the Rahi up to around the Hordika line. Greg Farshtey was one of the authors. But what's great about this is that the pictures of the Rahi are literally around a full page in size. I think that might be helpful for your series. It doesn't address the Dark Hunters, and it only goes so far through the years, but of the Rahi it does show, it's the biggest pictures I've seen for the Rahi.

What an interesting coincidence ! The Tahtorak is the very next instructions I'm planning to make. It is complete and I'm carefully working on making it perfect

lol I had no idea. I know it was a contest entry of some kind, but does Lego provide the instructions for the winning entry? I have trouble just trying to find instructions for old released sets (like some of the old Titan sets).
Also, I'm pretty sure The Tahtorak is in the comics at various points, you might be able to get different angles of the build from those.
