Description Update I've worked on the head and got a midsection in there that I'm happy with.As I work on this MOC I'll keep updating it. This may also just become its official deviation.

The current MOC I'm working on. I've been calling it the Rhotuka Tiger just to give it a name, but that's not going to stick. I'm very satisfied with the front section, getting used to the head, the back section is eh, but its been the midsection that's been giving me lots of trouble. I've been trying to get something sturdy but flexible. But its just not happening. Might have to get rid of the tubes There's no real way to connect them into either side and be stable so they don't pull out. Some real feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Sabercleese? Are you suggesting that as its name?

Is a Sabercleese from something? I get the Saber part but the Cleese? What's that about?

Oh, okay. Well I'll consider it. Maybe Sabercleese is what the species is named but this one will have a name.

It'll have claws and its teeth. But it is pretty spiky and sharp all over.

when I said blades I was refering to the spikes and it's teeth and stuff.

Oh I see. Well then no, that would pretty much be it. I wanted to stick Rhoutka spinners on it somewhere but I haven't found a place to make that work and not look like it was tacked on as an afterthought.

No, I meant that was this one's name, I knew what I typed was familiar, I jus couldn't pin it.

Hmm... an interesting combination of scrap- and Rahi-style building, but I think texture and 'flow' are the main issues here. On Rahi builds, it's even more important than usual to use the same type of piece all over the MOC, otherwise it looks disjointed and inorganic (as this one currently does). If your piece supply allows, I'd suggest restricting your range of usable pieces - what I would personally do is to stick to spiky pieces like the ones on the head and back, while finding substitutes for the round, mechanical pieces on the forelegs without destroying their shape. Speaking of shape, you might want to find a different position for the back Ehlek spine; the way it juts up above the legs looks really irregular. But still, good progress, and I hope that helped.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-06-27 23:32:35 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Aiden, that did help. That's the biggest problem I'm having with this MOC, keeping the aesthetic of that front part and having it flow from that into a more spacier look so that it can be flexible like our cuddly furry friends.

Also, I've only got the three Ehlek spines and The back one is supposed to be sort of a Motif of the front one. That's about the only place it can go.

Do you think I should hold to the flexibility build or scrap it and just give it a solid "one piece" body? If I do that then I can definitely retain the look and feel of that beefed up front part. But I oh so want this to be flexible as well. Oi, tough decisions are tough.

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-06-29 22:54:41 +0000 UTC]

You should keep the flexibility if you can - after all, it's what cats are known for. On the Cheetah I had a ball joint in the centre, with blades keeping it from moving too much, but your solution won't be as simple as that.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-06-30 01:20:42 +0000 UTC]

Okay. Thanks for that. I did end up finding a solution. Please go back and look at this picture. I've updated the pictures with what's going to be his midsection. It allows for flexibility, and its pretty stable. Basically if I can pick it up from one end and it not fall apart I'm Happy. As usual the solution ended up being a little simple and I was over thinking it. Does that ever happen to you?

Rahiden In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-06-30 11:56:18 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that works. I guess that happens to me on occasion... the first one that comes to mind is Endo's shoulder system. I spent ages trying to find a way to have a shoulder support behind it, before realising that it's more than strong enough to keep itself up with only a single balljoint.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Rahiden [2012-06-30 22:35:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that would make one feel sort of redundant. "How can I-Hmmph, no, what about...Oh wait, its fine with just one ball joint. Derp."

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhh....It was inspired by me wanting something sturdier yet flexible. It was me rotating through ideas I had to come up with something that works.

Oh cool. I didn't even know you had a WIP up. The only thing I don't like would be the nose, I would have to say, but the head is very nice

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Uikri [2012-06-25 20:49:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm not too happy with the nose either actually. it makes it look like a boar and I don't want that.

Uikri In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-06-25 22:01:15 +0000 UTC]

That's actually what I saw too. Ah well, you got through the hind leg problem, so you should be able to figure out the nose issue. I'd make a suggestion, but I'm not even sure what it's connected to

Deadpool7100 [2012-06-24 19:09:24 +0000 UTC]

phew!!!
im not so good at the complicated builds like this!!!
are those his feet or just stand-ins?
the tail and blades are pretty awesome!
and i like the head but im not sure how to help with the middle!
the tubes might work better if you just left enough slack for them to bend from side to side...
looks good so far!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Deadpool7100 [2012-06-25 02:42:16 +0000 UTC]

They're just stand ins.
Thanks. That's the problem. If I give any slack, they bend, and I want the tubes to be straight. The only way this would actually work was if the tubes could stretch and be securely fastened into their sockets. But Its not really possible to do that. I may just have to scrap the idea.

Deadpool7100 In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-06-25 03:15:14 +0000 UTC]

yeah....
you could make the pice they attach to hinge up and down or something that way the tube wouldnt bend randomly but you could still give it slack
it could also give it a hip bone look if it hinged in the back
