Description Description and bio. Marvel at the colossus of the desert, devastator of plateaus, a mechanize malicious menace...MOTOTAUR! Part man, part savage beast, all fury. Mototaur is core member of the Insurgence Of Darkness, trumped by only one other member, but only in cunning. His size, that of a mountain, strength far surpassing that of protosteel, speed aided by his motorized feet and body, is reach, that of the length of a kohli field with his bohrok head morning star.
Mototaur is very old, perhaps one of the oldest members of the insurgence. It is said that he was unearthed from deep within one of the nui islands, released from imprisonment set upon him long ago by the order of mata Nui to wreak havoc upon the deserts of Metru nui. Despite being old Mototaur acts and moves as if he were young. This is perhaps the result of a hibernation brought on by the imprisonment. It is known that Remaku is the one who sought him out and released him. The details are all rumored as Mototaur's wrath upon the sands was of a sudden one, appearing as if a sandstorm. Villagers of the various desert regions simply stay out of his way and bend to his will, for he could singlehandedly be the down fall of a village. Only teams of toas and titans have bested him, and only rarely

The new build
Mototaur got a massive overhaul from the previously "completed" version. He's been completely rebuilt from the abdomen down. A third pneumatic piston was incorporated into his torso for optimum stability. His forearms redone to include Caterpillar tracks in them. His neck has been fleshed out, his head received additions and additional armor has been placed here and there. This revamp has proven most challenging at ever turn, even leading me down dead ends thusly having to backtrack.

Unfortunately, he's not everything I envisioned in the new designs. His stability is near what it used to be but sadly not of the standard I'd like it to be and I lack the proper parts to adequately see this though. But his designs are sufficient enough to be shared and considered a Complete version of him. In due time I will once again revisit what by now is probably my signature MOC to hopefully improve upon what I deem to be inferior designs and make hims stabler and more poseable. Maximum stability and poseablity is my ultimate goal with these larger MOCs.

Now while its said that this is Version 3, this is actually a much later version, but I've lost track of how many version I had before the first version posted here on

Detail layout Can be viewed here.

*update*

I can't believe it, I got a DD Thank you so very much To ~Alex-Darkrai for suggesting me and having some truly kind words to say about My work. I humbly accept this great honor I really hope this will shed some much needed light in the bionicle MOCing Community here on Deviant art and incourage more MOCers to make the switch from off site locations to here for their MOC hosting and socializing. Once again, thank you so much every one.

Oh and I promise I'll get to all your comments. And thank you to everyone who faved any of my Deviations.

Thanks for this man. Glad you like it. The tail was really just thrown on there after working on it yet again and being frustrated with the lackluster results. Mototaur is cool there's a lot I like a bout him, but a lot I hate to. He needs a complete overhaul to fix things I know I could do better. But I'm glad you like this version, a lot of people do.

First of all, just looking at the use of the Borok plates as chest plates, I can tell this is a massive moc. How you managed to create such detail is beyond me. I first hand know how incredibly hard it is to make a giant moc and have it stand up and have good balance. Many a moc have I thought it to be perfect only to be let down by the horrible balance. So first thought, awesome job.

Now on to the weapon. I'm assuming it's a triple-bladed axe, and it looks like you put a bit of thought into it's design. I absolutely love the chain connecting it to the hand.

Next, the whole"Moto" theme. It's especially hard to create an organic being and turn it into something better. You have bypassed all of that difficultly. You incorporated hydraulic legs,
gears, and ropes that add a "gunmetal" feel.

In conclusion, your idea is original, fresh, and inspiring. Congratulations on such a monumental build.

Thank you for the Critique. The weapon is a Bohrok head Flail, a big heavy ball on a chain. A morning star is a long stick with a chain and ball, and a mace is the stick and ball, no chain. This I guess is more of a flail. It has a handle that he holds but its not very big so its kinda like a morning star but more flail like.

Well guys, I'm going to be honest with you all. I'm not trying to be melodramatic, but Mototaur is THE moc that made me start mocing myself, which explains the 5/5 for impact.

I've been following Daves work on Mototaur for about a year and a half now or so, and so I've watched him grow to be the greatness he is today.

I know Dave had a lot of plans with him, and probably, he still does, and I for one, will be so amused to see the upgrades. So for Vision, I feel I need to give him 4.5/5, just because I now the greatnes will never end on this one.

Now, this could just be me, but he is in my honest opinion, one of the greatest attempts at a HUUGE tauren-like creature. Actually, let me rephrase that: he IS the greatest attempt. But I have to admit, I did see a couple of others, but then again, without the build in transformer-type thing. So originality-wise, it is worth the 4/5.

Which brings us to Technique. Having seen the upgrades, the improvements, I know how much technique is used in this moc. Being able to hold up its upper-body, even though he is huge (and we all know gravity is a b!tch oO), the flexibility, the posing posibilities (granted Dave, you told us that with the new version posing was a bit too hard). But even so, he's able to bend his knees and still stand straight, so that deserves a 5/5.

Dave, your work is most-inspiring. Please don't give it up! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Thanks for this Dennis. Where have you seen other minotaur bionicle builds? I'm curious to see them. I know a couple of people have said they'd build their on version of mototaur, one person here on DA actually did.

I was the one to suggest Motoraur as DD, so now I'm also gonna be the one to write a critique about why I did so.

Mototaur was actually the one MOC which gave me the inspiration to start MOCing! Before I started uploading MOCs on dA, I was just some random deviant with some tribals and photos uploaded. Then I saw Mototaur, the most popular bionicle deviation at that time, I think.
Upon seeing it, I was astonished! I was impressed by how big but elegant a bionicle could be. And that's the reason why I could only choose 5 stars for impact, because Mototaur had enough impact to make me start MOCing!

I've talked with Dave a few times about Mototaur and the color scheme he chose for him. I know there are some people, who would say that he uses too many different colors for Mototaur, which has a negative effect on his looks, but I say the exactly the opposite thing happens! By using a lot of different colors from the same color scale (on Mototaur, these are: yellow, light orange, pearl gold, brown and black; but maybe I've even missed some) and spreading them over the whole MOC in form of smaller and bigger color accents every now and then, he achives a similiar effect to the paintings of Van Goth.
If you view Mototaur from a small distance, all the color accents flow together to a wonderfull color gradient.
Now, why did I only give a 4.5 on vision then? Well, it's because I know from the artist himself, that he would like to improve that color scheme even more and I also think that there's still some potential left, so let's just call it a potential 4.5!

I gave the lowest ranking of stars for originality, well, that's because I interpret 'originality' as the 'use of parts' when it comes to bionicleMOCs.
Mototaur has a LOT of originally used parts, like the skater feets, the keetongu head chest armor, the horns and so on, but I still see a lot of potential there. I'd really like to get the effect; "Wow, I didn't think this part could be used like that!", a few more times while looking at him. Because that's usually the reason why I'm faving a deviation.

But not everything is about the looks!
It's like with a house; if it looks good, but falls aparts as soon as the wind blows, then it's not worth the money it was build with! I'm an architecture student, so I'm pretty sure about that.
And as mostly only architects can recognize if a house would fall apart, also only MOCers can truly differentiate between well build and loosy build MOCs.
Mototaur, in my eyes, is THE prime example for a well build big MOC. He stands without beeing held, he can hold his weight while his knees are bend and his whole stance looks so elegant, that you just can't imagine him to be fragile or unstable in any way.
This gives Mototaur a clean 5 stars rank for technique!
He IS the best colossus MOC I've ever seen! He outperforms every other colossus in points of color scheme and elegance.

For me, Mototaur is a shing star in the history of bioMOCing! Without a doubt!

I feel like giving constructive criticism so here's constructive criticism:

The build is really cool and complex not to mention the design is equally as cool. However, the color's kind of a mess. Yeah, it has a consistent palette, however the placement of colors don't work too well.

Many pieces of yellow has been placed among equally as many pieces of grey, and I feel that the size of the pieces in relation to the size of the MOC almost makes the color placement seem random. Not just that, but the small bits of red are so small that they, rather than looking like part of the palette, ends up breaking the palette in the same way a red axle would do.

I suggest trying to make it so that certain colors are centralized in certain areas so that the color placement looks a lot cleaner, not to mention either removing or adding more red.

Now, take my criticism with a side of salt since although well aware of the basics of it I'm no expert at color theory, so my advice on how to fix things could potentially be the worst thing in the history of anything ever.

All that aside, the color placement is the only problem I can see on this MOC. After all, it has a defined design, consistent palette, it looks cool as hell, etc. Long story short, it's a really good looking MOC that only really needs minor improvement in its color placement.

Thank you for the in depth feedback. I appreciate the time you took to think this through and write out your comment.

Yeah the color scheme on this MOC was absolutely fucked. This is one of my oldest MOCs, I built the initial version in 2006-07, and then did an update to this version in 2010. So it was during the period where my building skills were expanding, and I was pushing the boundary of what I could build, without really worrying about the more refined aspects of the MOC. I've since taken Mototaur apart, and have used his parts elsewhere. If I had to rebuild him today, I'd definitely pay much closer attention to the color blocking.

Β

This is a MOC where you can clearly see a defined color palett, and careful consideration to placements of colors to.
