In one of the earliest examples of a textbook Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind, David Mendiola Vilches was seemingly taken aboard an alien ship in 1914.

Vilchez lived in an isolated area near Cochabamba, Bolivia. One night, he was awoken by a sound he thought was a bit like an airplane turbine coming from nearby. Leaving his house to investigate he witnessed a metallic cylinder that appeared to be encircled by electricity descend into a nearby field. He approached the area and was suddenly bathed in a bright white light.

Next thing Vilchez knew, he was surrounded by tall and thin creatures with huge bug eyes, octopus limbs and dripping with foul mucous. He knew he was examined by the humanoids but he didn't remember any details or even when he was released.
