Illoreth bowed her head low; whether it was of respect for the spirit or the shame of her wish she couldn’t fully decide upon. The darkness of the night and the light rain only made her hurt more apparent and heavy.
“Would it be so selfish-” Illoreth started, lifting her blue gaze to the spirit. The fairy had come to her as one of her own, a Felvarg, a form Illoreth found great comfort in. The bright blue light rolled off the spirit's form in misty waves, chasing away the darkness around them. She straightened up, voice wavering slightly. “Would it be so selfish of me to ask you to mend a broken heart?”
“Sadly, for you, it would be” Illoreth was expecting that answer. The entire journey through Haldor’s Pass that was the only answer she could think about. But why, why when the spirit told her what she felt in her own heart did it hurt this badly? The Felvarg dropped her brave facade, letting her head drop low again. She couldn’t stop the flow of tears that clawed at her eyes and let them roll freely.
“Do not take my refusal as a punishment dear,” the spirit spoke softly. Illoreth didn’t expect the cold nose that brushed up against hers. “Your past, the pain you feel from it is what makes you who you are!” The spirit licked the other’s nose as a sign of comfort. “It allows you to be kind to others, to know their pain; it is an essential part of you. To take that quality away would indeed be selfish” Illoreth nodded, smiling slightly. “I may not mend your broken heart, little one, however I know that you can mend it yourself while still keeping intact your sympathy and compassion.”

“Thank y-“ the brown female lifted her head, only to see the bright spirit was gone. She smiled regardless. Illoreth turned, padding away from the spot the spirit once stood.
