The truth is that there was a lot of controversy among the fans when they saw that in the future, Twilight's friends were of legal age, but Twilight has no sign of old age other than having Celestia's proportions, which makes them furious believing it was a lie that Twilight would not survive her friends.
But being honest, I doubt that much. I see that it is normal for the long time that has passed more or less 20 years, I see that it is normal for Twilight to have reached the same proportions as Celestia, I think Cadence would also have the same size, I think that is a size is part of the growth of an alicorn, apart, we must take into account that Celestia and Luna existed BEFORE Equestria existed, if they were already immortal for some other reason, I doubt that Twilight is also just because now Equestria rules, in addition, in the castle we saw a showcase where we see Flurry Heart becoming the new ruler of the crystal empire, so that was not a job that his mother would do for eternity.
We have also seen the other alicorn princesses grow old normally, when we met Cadence, we saw her as a teenager when she was taking care of Twilight and currently as an adult, and we saw an adult Flurry Heart in the showcase, seeing that she also ages normal if like Cake twins, she passed into adulthood.
If Twilight really was immortal, poisoning having grown up should be the same alicorn of the last 6 seasons, because it is assumed that part of immortality is never getting old, or taking several decades or centuries to change a little, making one Be young at the age when a mortal is old.

For the target demographic, the show's ending was perfect; it showed that no matter how old they got, they were still friends, and that would never change, no matter how far away from each other they were.Β
But yeah, there were a lot of things left unanswered that older fans are annoyed about, myself included.Β One of them being what Twilight would do after the rest of the six passed away. One of the other endings I wouldn't have been surprised about (though I think it would have annoyed a bunch of others) was if all of them did become alicorns. It would've confirmed the 'Twilight not outliving her friends' tweet and would've given Hasbro more toys to sell.
I would take the outward looks of Cadance and Twilight showing whether they're immortal or not with a grain of salt. Either way, they are still 'young' for alicorns at the end, maybe only in their 40s(?). It wouldn't surprise me if there's some kind of age 'peak' that they would hit before their appearance just kind of stops changing. The same happened to Lunaβwhen she was first stripped of Nightmare Moon she 'came back' as what looked like maybe a tween. Then one season later she was back to what we could only assume was her original look. It's possible there could be a relatively 'rapid' aging process for alicorns until they reach the age peak and then just abruptly stop.
But eh, just speculating.

Whew, ain't that a kick in the teeth! I mean a lot of us are thinking about it for sure it's just the fate that an undying being faces. Same as Cadence and Flurry with Shining Armor. At least she has them, Celestia and Luna who've been in her place before most likely, and Discord who'd be having a hard time since Fluttershy was the first pony he shared a deep connection with!

I personally believe Cadence will have a regular lifespan. Like Twilight would have had if she didn't become the ruler of Equestria. I think only Celestia and Luna would be able to pass that on and they chose Twilight.
