В мультфильме есть много лысых и почти лысых, и Дабл Ди не стал бы из-за этого комплексовать. 

Я считаю, что у него просто пунктик насчёт покрытия головы, так же, как и с бумажками с названиями предметов. 

Что насчёт Ed says "Does it hurt?", то я вот что скажу: бывают моменты, когда ты чувствуешь боль, если с тебя снимают подобный головной убор неаккуратно. Можно ведь случайно за волосы потянуть, и т. д.

Nice! On the EEnE Fan wiki it's mentioned that Danny used to wear a sock hat to hide a burn scar from his parents. Maybe Edd did that too. [link] (waaay at the bottom of the page, animator's choice theory).
