Personally love Phosis T'Kar, he's the only one who looks imposing (sorry) the other two look like they are either drunken frat boys or hip-hopping gangsters (once again, sorry. I love the rest of your work).
Although it might be personal bias. Always loved the TS for their tragedy and anal violation by the Space Furries; wouldn't be surprised if Magnus was secretly loyal and trying to fix the Emperor and ask for forgiveness... although The Battle of the Fang kind of messed with that headcanon.
Nice work, by the way. I like the colours and effects.

yes actually, basically a continuation of 'heroes of the chapters' series [link] [link] [link] (man i didn't get far in that, i had like 8 planned) but for the legions instead, the first one is my thousand son fellowship champion menes, i'll submit it in a few days

most likely, though i still have a long list of stuff to get though, which i keep working on and off, problem is i'm kinda a drawing butterfly, always going for whatever takes my immediate interest

Well that's not necessarily a bad thing, I sometimes have trouble focusing on one particular project. And so long as the lengthy list doesn't make you feel miserable and you can still enjoy yourself.

nah, lists don't make me miserable, what makes me miserable is that dA has put 'more like this' on deviation pages, and what isn't my own work is 10 times better, feels kinda like ' hey vangar, that's some nice art you got there, but you really will never be as good as these guys'. actually that doesn't make me miserable, just fills me with envy, and a pinch of spite.

I'm glad the lists don't sap your enjoyment of artwork! And I don't like that side thing either. I'm sorry that it makes you feel bad! Really, your work is wonderful.

well it helps that i'm always improving, i can always tell myself that these other guys probably studied art professionally, or at least have a decades experience with complex art. i have had neither of those things, in fact i like to think, given how i've improved in 5 years of drawing and 2 years of digital art, i will ascend to their level eventually (and some casual art lessons in the future won't hurt)

Awww thank you for asking Well let's see, I've been writing poetry. (As usual.) For some reason my poems are almost effortless, whereas my stories are a struggle. But I'm going to be picking out two to work on this year, probably one from Warhammer or Warhammer 40K and another from a story set in out world. Also I'm going to be planning out thoroughly how to get my goals accomplished this year, last year I tried but didn't have a plan and so got lost and distracted. And I'm going to start drawing again.

nah, the ultramarines were necessary for the war and certainly after, or at least guilliman was, while i hate 40k ultras, i do quite like the 30k ones, i'd swap the thousand sons with the space wolves myself

Hmm kinda need the Wolves, they are there for the dirty work ya gotta do sometimes.... I have also noticed the the loyalist got all the cool legions.
Chaos got the Word bearers and they are, to me, boring as fuck same with the Iron warriors and Angoron, well He's just Angry. Cant hold that against him.

Both 50 shades and the Codex Astartes are terribly writen. I also think girlyman also had deep sexual repression issues.

VangarShriek In reply to Orkronos [2013-01-15 17:21:59 +0000 UTC]
the latter is very unlikely, and the former is wholly untrue, i'm afraid while i share you distaste in 4ok ultras, the 30k ones are nothing like them and are more than admirable, guilliman specially. you really need to read know no fear, or at least rules of engagement in age of darkness (that demonstrates what the codex astartes really is, not what everyone interprets it to be).
what the heresy books demonstrate more than anything else, is that the chapters of the 41st are nothing like their predecessors in the 31st. even chapters i hate, like the space wolves, find a place in my heart when i read them in the heresy books, and that goes the same for the ultramarines. in the 41st the space marines are just going through the motions, they are old, dying and backwards, but in the 31st they are brand new and full of purpose, drive and character, and quite frankly the horus heresy has ruined me for other black library books.

Lascannonpistol?
Very cool artwork. Night Lord looks a bit camp and the "Magic" of the 1kS Marine is very cool
Only thing I'd say needs some work is the Salamanders' Powerfist. The fingers look way too flat.
π: 0 β©: 1
VangarShriek In reply to Narric-SB0 [2013-01-14 14:32:56 +0000 UTC]
no it's a plamsa pistol, a pre-heresy model. and yeah sevatar does have a bit of an odd pose, i hadn't realised until i was too far in to change it. also technically it's psychic power phosis is using, not magic.
power fists are a bit of a bitch, especially at odd angles, it was supposed to look claw-like, but yeah it just turned out flat in the end
π: 0 β©: 1
Narric-SB0 In reply to VangarShriek [2013-01-14 16:12:36 +0000 UTC]
I figured it was a Plasma Pistol, but the "Barrel" makes it look like a lascannon
I knew it was Psychic, I just couldn't figure out the rights words, so I went with something simple
I find looking at Mech-design tutorials helps with drawing Space Marines, especially weapons like the Powerfist. They are effectively man-sized mecha, with a human head if they have removed their helmet
