Description

Because there are a number of different character’s in this display I’ll divvy up my review (column A on the left and B on the right).

Check out my gallery for other spreads like this one.

Legion Command (7th Ed Horus Heresy)

First Captain Sigismund (Row 1; Column A): Sigismund is without doubt the single best space marine character (discounting Primarch’s and Custodes) in the entire Horus Hersey range when it comes to his sheer destructive capacity. His rules in a challenge just stack so high it’s almost impossible for him not to kill any space marine he comes up against. Unfortunately, there’s a rather easy way to negate most of this potential, which is to deny the challenge Sigismund has to issue, so yes, your leader won’t be able to fight, but at least he won’t take an instant deathing sword straight up his ass and out through his face. With this in mind, Sig’s only becomes so-so, as he’s also quite expensive points wise.

Captain Alexis Polux (Row 1+2; Column B): Right, something aside from a review, Alexis Polux is the most unproblematic space marine fave of the Warhammer 40,000 canon! So much so that he borderlines on being Bae, and probably only comes second to Barabus Dantioch (FUCK YOU GUY HALEY!!) Anyway, that aside Polux is quite mid-level character, a strength 10 power fist and 3++ save is great, though he’s one of those weird characters that only has a 3+ armour save, like Sevatar. Either way, my Polux has killed HQ’s and dreadnoughts plenty, and even did a Knight titan in once. Solid stuff is Polux.

Centurion Consul (Master of Signals) (Row 2; Column A): Legions don’t have Chapter Masters and Captains, they have Praetorians and Centurions; the latter can be upgraded to Librarians, Chaplains, etc. The Master of Signals is a recent discovery for my circle: capable of a quite nasty one-shot orbital bombardment, they work great with Heavy Weapons squads, giving them BS 5 so long as he doesn’t shoot. Cheap goober HQ, great support option if you’ve got the points.

Centurion Consuls (Chaplains) (Row 3; Column A+B): There are no official chaplains during the Great Crusade/Heresy; they don’t run around with skull helmets, crozius, or black armour. I suspect they fall under moral officers or something, anyway, I elect Imperial Fist Chaplains to be in black plate. They’re pretty good for what they are, they get a power weapon and give reroll wounds to a squad for like 35 points. Also, due to what is likely a typing error, a terminator chaplain technically has 2 power weapons, so gets an extra attack, which is some nice shit.

Praetorian (Row 4; Column A): My custom Praetorian with dual thunder hammers, this beast gets like 7 attacks on the charge! However, as I don’t think I’ve ever managed to get the fucker into combat, I’ve never seen just how well he might work, as he’s the second most expensive HQ in points on this list after Sig’s, I don’t field him too often.

Centurion Consul (Primus Medicae) with Apothecaries (Row 4+5, Column B+Centre): Put the apothecaries on this list despite them being Elites which you take as a group and then attach to other squads, apothecaries – as I mentioned in the Tactical Infantry entry – are a great way of boosting squad survivability. The only issue is, I believe, when playing kill points they each count as a point on their own, and they’re kinda squishy if the opponent puts their minds to it. The Primus is pretty cool as, when playing kill points, he can negate all nearby points given to the enemy on a 4+, which has saved my ass on a couple of occasions.

Those Forgeworld models are brutal to paint. The load of details is overwhelming!

Your Pollux looks really good!

Last pic row A: Stop!... Hammertime!
Great models, i like how the Great Crusade Power Armors look.
And i was surprised to see them having Combi-Bolters. Didn´t know they were a thing in 30k.

Cheers mate, and yeah Combi-weapons are a thing (there's a distinction between combi-weapon and combi-bolters, as combi-bolters are the 30k equivalent of storm bolters) but I personally don't use them very much, because I don't like paying points for one use items/abilities.

Same for me, especially because you never know whether or not you actually have a reason to use them.
But i really love the look of those combi-weapons.
A regular Bolter already looks very intimidating, the additional barrel however...

Your fists army look really choppy. Which i think really suits them as badass siege masters. As a Eldar and Ad-Mech player..... i have nothing i even vaguely want near Sigismund.

Real nice looking volkite ray by the way. It suits the apothecary and all, being a cleansing ray gun.

Cheers mate, though I don't reckon he uses the volkite on his patients. This is mainly because what you can't see in his other hand is a hypodermic needle the size of a shank. Go big or go home.

Noticed that Sigismund has a helmet, and Polux is on the wrong base (which ruins them, in part, for me.) Love how you got the maximum of 3 apothecary's.

I know they have an official Primus Medicae model. But good luck trying to find it now. Except maybe on ebay.

I don't like bald Sigismund, and the scenic bases named Characters come with never fit the rest of the army, so I make my own.

And yes, there's the terminator apothecary (don't remember if he's a Primus) and I do have him, but haven't built him and don't like him too much. The dude in the middle of the bottom row is my Primus, who I like better.

Dude. I am SO jealous you got him. If I could, I'd take it off your hands.
