Description
Hey there, folks! Happy Thanksgiving to all you celebrating today!Last year, I began drawing a comic for the occasion that I wasn't able to finish in time, then this year remembered I had started it, and only just squeaked it in at the last minute (it was supposed to be finished for a Monday update, hehe).
Fellow MiSTies may recognize this bit as a sketch from Mystery Science Theater 3000's Thanksgiving variant episode of "Night of the Blood Beast", originally performed by Mike Nelson, Trace Beaulieu, and Kevin Murphy. This is a Bomango adaptation of the sketch, which stays pretty true to the original, albeit with more "hams", BFGs, and Potato-Beasts.Β
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Thanksgiving centerpiece for the table without me expressing my sincere thanks for the commentary, support, and readership of Viewers Like You. Whether you've chipped in via Patreon, or simply enjoyed my work, whether you're a longtime reader or a newcomer, thanks so much!
And have a happy Thanksgiving!
- van

I sense a paradox in the space time continuum. Did we get temporary moved to the previous Gogoverse?

I am personally a tater man myself cause of the different ways you can prepare them for tanksgiving. BoilΒ em, mash em, smash em, roast em, toast em, cheese em, foil em up, stick em in a stew, skin on, skin off, white, red, finger lin, and IDAHOOOOOOOOO

Hmmmm. Seems there's a slight bit of confirmation bias on Didi's behalf. As a descendant of Irish stock, I must say fie on her prejudiceΒ against nature's most perfect food.....except for beer. Happy Thanksgiving!

Therefore I suggest that we go ahead and experiment some more with the potatoes. Something along the line of fermentation studies should suffice.

Happy Spanksgiving!Β
From the first panel I was thinking she was going to combine the two in some horrific Fly style experiment.
...though I happen to prefer the potato in this case. There are so many ways to make and therefore botch the making of stuffing.. too salty, itchy, poofy, gritty etc... that its hard to find one that I like, even though I've had some in the past that was pretty good.
Both is best, of course. full course.
Β Seconds please!Β

Next year, she'll engineer a Turducken that comes pre-stuffed and excretes potatoes, and the world will recoil in horror.
...but it's raised cruelty free!

In addition to this being a humorous comic, it's a comic firmly placed in the G1 Bomango Universe!!!! YAAAAAAAAYYYY!!! While I'm enjoying the new comic, I can't deny missing the G1 versions of the characters as well, and it's nice to be able to catch up on some of the new/old shenanigans! Here's hoping we'll see some more G1-goodies somewhere down the road. Would it be meta if they had commentary on their own comic, or would that be fourth wall territory? Hmmm....
Thanks SO much for the share! ^_^

Hey! I now have a new term for the old stuff! "G1"...brilliant!
"Legacy" was also used as a term by a few commenters, which is elegant but a little lofty. G1 is nice and quick. Thanks!
As for meta-commentary, I've done it before...so perhaps, heh

GrungeWerX-TV In reply to VanHeist [2017-11-25 23:13:11 +0000 UTC]
Glad you like it! You may already be aware of this, but it used to be a term to describe the original generation of Transformers (aka Generation One), as a way to distinguish it from successive continuities and product lines. But more recently I've seen the term expanded to other franchises that have evolved into successive continuities, so it's starting to become a not-so-common term to describe the original generation of ANY franchise (toy, anime, or otherwise) that has been rebooted/reinvented etc. such as the G1 Pokemon universe, and I thought it naturally applied to your situation.Β Β
And yeah, I like it better than Legacy as well. Legacy seems to imply that it's no longer relevant (such as legacy drivers, etc), whereas G1 still holds importance in the hearts of its fans, and I'm definitely a fan of the G1 Bomango universe, as I'm sure thousands of other people are. ^_^

On Didi's Stuffing-zooka:Β is that label the trademarked Betty Crocker, or "Betty Croaker?"
Either is fitting.
I'm okay with potatoes mostly, but if I must choose one... stuffing all the way!

VanHeist In reply to JimmyDimples [2017-11-24 16:41:13 +0000 UTC]
I think you may be the first to catch the "Betty Croaker". I thought it would stick out more, but changing a "c" to an "a" in that logo's script is pretty subtle

That was fantastic. Bravo, sir. Bravo. Also, probably a good thing that Gogo wasn't in earshot when food was being discussed.
As for me, I've never really liked stuffing (or dressing, if it's not being, well, stuffed up the butt of a dead bird), whereas I adore potatoes. My favorite though is the wildcard dish: Sweet Potato Pie; mash up your sweet potatoes (or buy a can of pre-mashed), put them in a glass baking pan, and cover the top with a thick layer of topping made from oatmeal, brown sugar, and just a bit of cinnamon. Now that's good stuff there.
...This being said, because our water heater broke down and we're still waiting for a replacement, my family ended up going out for burgers for Thanksgiving lunch and then made chicken & rice for dinner. A humble feast, but much fun was had by all. We'll try again for the big home cooked feast on Christmas.

sirrliv In reply to sirrliv [2017-11-24 18:06:49 +0000 UTC]
Indeed so. Certainly makes showers interesting, either having to endure freezing cold water (wakes you up better than coffee) or the inconvenience of going to a friend's house to use their shower. Still, with a bit of luck, we should be getting a replacement unit quite soon. Thanksgiving was a fun day; excellent food, good movies, great time spent with family.
Hmm, interesting suggestion there. Never heard of riced potatoes, but that might be worth a try. Not a huge fan of gravy on my potatoes (especially brown gravy. Cream gravy can be nice sometimes, especially when said potatoes are served alongside something like chicken fried steak. Why yes, I am a Southerner, how could you tell? ), mostly I prefer just some salt and maybe a bit of butter. But the light and fluffy thing has me sold.

VanHeist In reply to sirrliv [2017-11-24 16:47:42 +0000 UTC]
I prefer potatoes myself. They're highly modifiable, but for TG dinner, you can't beat riced potatoes; skinned, boiled, strained through a ricer, and delightfully fluffy to accommodate mass amounts of gravy.
And hey, it's not so much the food as it is eating with people you care about. (But a replacement water heater will be a heck of a boon...nothing like losing a heat appliance to make you feel like you've tumbled backwards a few decades...)
