You were gonna do it! You were going to read! What a concept! Well……that’s a bit of an over exaggeration, but you weren’t a huge book fan. Sam liked to read, so you thought you’d try. You were sitting in the library across from him as he researched away on some monster you guys were supposed to cap as you tried reading ‘To Kill A Mockingbird.’ You were at your breaking point, this book was so. Damn. BORING. No explosions? No fights? Are you kidding me?! Ughhh, not every book needed it but this book was so damn boring you were driving yourself crazy. You were so passed done with Boo Radley and the two delinquent kids running around trying to get away from jerk people hating on their dad for defending a black man. WHY CAN’T THEY ALL BE NICE?!
“Are you ok?” Sam asked looking at you with a small smile confused. Apparently he caught on to your annoyance by your groan. It also could have been your slamming your head against the table.
“Fan-tastic……” You groaned leaving your head on the table. You lifted your head off of the table and with your left hand you kept your head up. With your right hand you held up the unbelievably dull book, with your right eye twitching.
“You look like you’re about to explode. What’s up? I don’t usually see you in here.” Sam shut his laptop. Damnit. He was taunting you. That bastard. You stood up abruptly making the chair screech.
“Don’t think this is over Sammica.” You pointed an accusing finger at him.
“What? What over? You’re not making any sense.” Sam said genuinely confused.
“I can read too! Just because I can’t hold my attention for a couple of hours doesn’t mean I can’t-” You stopped yourself mid-sentence. A look of sudden realization was pinned to your face.
“(Y/N)? Did you get enough sleep?” Sam asked.
“OMG I JUST REMEMBERED I HAVE THE OVEN ON! FUCK!” You ran out of the room causing Sam to chuckle and go back to his laptop. You ran back into the library to grab your book.
“Almost forgot my…..totally…..amazing book. That I’m gonna read!” You stated.
“Good for you?”
“Yeah good for me! Cause you’re not the only one who reads in this house hold!” You threw over your shoulder leaving again.
“We live in a bunker. Huge difference there (Y/N).” Sam corrected you.
“Don’t care. So passed done! I’m cute! I win!” You exclaimed running off to shut off the oven you needed to turn off. Sam never knew if he would get used to your random antics.

A few days had passed and you almost finished ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’……but you found it so damn boring you just couldn’t do it. You had found another book to read. You heard from a girlfriend of yours that it was really good so you decided to read it. She leant you it, Fifty Shades of Grey. The first few chapters weren’t so bad. That’s when you realized what the book was about…..
“Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god no. Whole lotta nope!” You said walking into the kitchen to find Dean and Sam sitting at the table having lunch. You looked ran over to Dean and started checking his pockets.
“Whoa whoa whoa! What are you doing?” Dean tried swatting your hands away when you found what you wanted. His lighter.
“Hey for no particular reason where’s the gasoline?” You asked acting innocent. Both brothers looked at you like you were crazy.
“Ya know what I think I’ll be ok…..” You trailed off throwing the book into the sink before pouring some of Dean’s alcohol all over the hideousness. Before you could pour any of it though they both had their questions.
“What are you doing?” Sam asked.
“(Y/N) don’t touch my good stuff!”
“Don’t be such a baby I’ll buy you something pretty. This is worth it…..” You threw the lighter into the sink and watched the terrible book burn.
“Bad book…..very bad book…..” You trailed off sitting on the countertop hugging your knees.
“Was that really necessary?” Dean asked raising an eyebrow trying to hide his smile.
“Of course it was! I’m a completely rational person!” You defended yourself.
“Wasn’t that Charlie’s book?” Sam asked.
“Damnit……” You swore.

This time you tried something YOU thought you might like. It was called ‘A Walk to Remember’ by Nicholas Sparks. You joined Sam, again, in the library to read your book while he read one of his. While he was reading his he would always sneak glances at you. He would notice the way your eyes would either light up or glare at the pages. To be honest the younger Winchester thought it was pretty freakin’ adorable. He also noticed that you couldn’t hold one position for very long. First you would start out with your legs underneath the table, reading normally. Then you would switch and put your legs up on the table and rest your book in your lap. You would then fidget around and pull your knees in holding the book. Right now you were simply sitting indian style in your seat with your knees leaning against the arm rests. It looked like you were about finished with the book. This time your eyes were different though. Sam could practically see tears brimming at the edges of your eyes. Then he noticed the way you were shaking your head no and the frown that replaced the smile you always held.
“Don’t you die……you die and I’ll explode I swear to god…..” You whispered to yourself. Sam held the urge to pull you into his lap and cuddle you forever. A few minutes later you completely lost it and had droplets running down your face with a hand over your mouth. Moments later you were done with the book and set it on the table staring off into space with your face red and blotchy. When you felt someone watching you, you glanced to see Sam trying to hide a smile as he looked at you.
“Do you need a hug?” Sam asked trying not to laugh at how cute you were. Of course you would get this worked up over a book. You swallowed.
“No…..maybe…..” You looked away. “Yes.” You sobbed as you ran from your chair as Sam stood up hugging you.
“It’s not fair Samus! She was supposed to live! Why?!” You sobbed holding onto your best friend. Sam wrapped his arms around your little body. One arm around your waist while the other stroked your hair.
“I know (Y/N)….it’ll be ok.”
“No it won’t! Landon wasn’t so much of a dick at the end! And now him and Jamie can’t be together! Ever! Fuuuuckkkkkkk……” Dean heard crying, knowing it was you, and found the sound coming from the library.
“Are we ok here?” Dean asked with his softening seeing you in such a fragile state.
“We got sad over a book.” Sam explained not letting go of you.
“Awww.” Dean walked over to you, also trying not to smile.
“Get over here. Group hug. I need it.” You smiled pulling Dean into the hug too.
“Yo Deano do we have any cream puffs?” You asked when the three of you pulled away.
“Yeah got some last trip I made.” Dean asked still not wanting to let you go.
“Cool cause imma need summa that along with Aliens and a shit load of pillows. Slumber party in the living room bitches!” You said walking away to retrieve said delicious treats.

Sam wondered about your sudden change in habit. Instead of drawing and dancing around you were practically forcing yourself to read. He knew you weren’t a huge book fan so that made him wonder why you were trying so hard to be something you’re not. The hunter was tempted to say something but kept his mouth shut. It hurt him at the thought that you didn’t think you were perfect. Your creativity and randomness had the perfect blend and Sam wouldn’t want it any other way. He loved you for that. He loved you. Just you. The real you. The way when anyone even mentioned the subject of cupcakes and bacon you’d light up like a Christmas tree. It was the little things that counted to him. The way you’d randomly sing Queen songs. You had a beautiful voice and even knew how to play guitar and piano. Sometimes though you’d sing bad on purpose, which would always bring a smile to his face.

Sam could hear you singing from the living room, where he was catching up on ‘Lie to Me.’ You were in the kitchen decorating a gingerbread house. You were so excited when Dean brought it home, your hands clapping in excitement. Dean was next to Sam watching the odd show when they both heard you.
“God Damnit! God Damnit! God fucking Damnit!” You yelled. Your body sunk to the ground in fetal position. Dean and Sam rushed to the kitchen to see what happened.
“Are you ok?”
“What happened?” Their hearts broke a little seeing you so hurt. What have possibly gone wrong? Their eyes wandered over to the gingerbread house that seemed a little bit different than the picture.
“I fucked up the gingerbread house because I’m stupid!” You hiccupped with tears streaming down your face. You didn’t lift your face from your knees as you cried. It wasn’t that you cared about what Sam and Dean thought, they were the last people whose opinions mattered, you just didn’t want to see him. He was always right. Always.
“I’m gonna let you take this one. I’ll be out. Text me.” Dean said throwing his brother a sympathetic smile before venturing out. Sam turned down the music and crouched next to you, picking you up making you stand.
“You’re not stupid (Y/N). Why do you think that?” Sam asked putting a hand on your shoulder.
“I didn’t read the stupid instructions right and now the ginger bread house is ruined! Cause I’m a moron!” You cried looking up at him crossing your arms.
“You are not stupid at all.” Sam was taken aback at your words. Most of the time you were confident and rolled with the punches making everything a joke. Calling yourself stupid was definitely out of character.
“Yes I am! I couldn’t even focus on that damn book long enough to finish it!” You said. Something clicked in Sam’s head.
“Were you forcing yourself to read because you felt this way?” Sam asked having both hands on your shoulders to make sure you didn’t scamper off.
“Yeah….kind of….look I don’t wanna talk about it…” You tried running off but Sam blocked your exit.
“No. Talk to me.” You threw Sam’s words away and tried getting passed him. Sam had a tight grip on your waist as you struggled.
“It’s because I feel dumb compared to you ok?! You’re always so smart and always right! I thought reading would help!” You said glaring at the wall in front of you.
“(Y/N)……you’re not dumb…..no-where close to it, so don’t even think that!”
“Well……I guess also I thought you might go for a girl who read more.” You stated bluntly.
“What…..?” Wait- you? Like him? WHOA! Sam let go of you as you turned around.
“I like you Sam. I thought maybe you’d be more into a chick who was into books. I had a dumb girl moment but that doesn’t matter. Do you wanna do something? I heard skiing is super fun.” You said with a small smile. Your skin was still a little red. Sam shook his head to drive away his other thoughts. You caught him completely off guard.
“Uh….yeah! That sounds fun! Don’t ever think you need to change ok?” Sam said.
“Why would I change? I’m already perfect!” You flipped your hair with a taunting smile.
“Yes you are. And since we have something planned I can do this.” Sam pulled your hips against his letting his lips move with yours. You tasted like frosting and strawberries with your lips so soft.
“Does that mean I can stop trying to read ‘The Hobbit’?” You asked with a smile leaning your forehead against his. Sam chuckled.
“Yes you can silly.” You pulled away.
“Thank god that book was sooooo boring.” You joked when you glanced at Sam. His jaw was slightly agape with his eyes surprised.
“What?”
“Nothing~~~! I’ll be in my room!” You sang as you sprinted to your room.
“Not so fast!” Sam chased after you. He’d always chase after you.
