Higher ResolutionNon-Rara ponies coming soon, but she's my go-to music pony.
Trying to up the speed on my painting since taking too long on each piece is causing some problems (I think). I miss a lot of mistakes when I get too used to staring at a single painting, and I'm noticing that a number of my older pictures have some pretty notable errors that slipped by me in this way. And that effect lasts for a long time, which is problematic because now I'm always scared that I might've messed something up without realizing and I can't even see the mistake to fix it (at least during the painting phase). Not much I can do months after I put it out, but I'm hoping that being a bit faster will help me to better myself in that regard.

This is a great picture of Rara. Octavia and DJ Pony are the really popular music ponies. However Rara is the one that I really like. She became the focus of an episode. The episode was so interesting and moving. There was commentary on real world issues of the pressures of fame as well as pop music trends. I liked Rara better towards the end when she sang a ballad on the piano. It is not flashy but it sounds so much better.

There is a few things you must keep in mind, Vanilla... One of the things that you're training when you're doing art is your eyes. It's one reason why you might be able to see mistakes now when before you couldn't, Your eyes might have not know what to look for in the past, but eventually, your eyes will catch up to your skill level, and it's usually then that you'll see area that could use improvements. This is one reason why you're seeing a lot things you're not satisfied with in your past arts.Β
And another thing is that speed really doesn't mattered all too much when it comes to catching mistakes. I can understand what you're saying about getting too used to a single artwork, but you must keep in mind that other artists do spent a lot of time on their artworks too ( Take JaDeDJynX for example. And according this interview www.equestriadaily.com/2016/10β¦ she took 2 weeks to do this ChrysalisΒ Vampire Chryssi Β Β )
I suppose my recommendation would be to try and catch your mistakes early. Easier said than done I know, but I myself do a number of things including but not limited to the following:
1. Zooming in and out to see how a picture would look from far away and close up.Β
2. Flipping the art horizontally and vertically. Even tilting it if I feel like it.
3. Taking a break. Just try not to slip into procrastination.
4. Look at a different picture. Like say, if I was drawing pony, I might take a break by looking at some nice ladies.
5. Play some fighting game.... Or just about any game that get your blood pumping. That seems to work for me at least.Β
6. Depending on which area I feel could be off, I do sketch something in various position to see which one look the most accurate.
I can't say if you'll find them as effective, but I figured I should mention them in case you would like to try them out.
At any rate, I wouldn't worry too much about it since you're able to see area in your own work that could be better. Sure, it could be much later when you see the error, but it's still all right. Better late than never. It'd be more worrisome if you're not able to see them until say.... Years? That's just how I feel though.Β
... Or would you prefer that Rara explains all of that to you in a musical manner? She looks all ready for it. I'm not sure how good I am with my explanation anyway. >.>

Haha yeah, youβre probably right there- though I do want to increase my speed for other reasons as well. Not to sacrifice quality or anything like that, but itβd be nice to find a balance, which I think is reasonable.
