Description I started texturing my miku model today, so I'm experimenting with methods to organise UV maps.

1) Primitive method (skirt): Made using the UV primitive projection tools and Allign tool
2) Unwrap / Relax method (shirt and tie): Made using the UVPower unwrap plugin options
3) Project method (TBA): Use of Project tool, allign and possibly "Relax" of the unwrap plugin
4) Atlas method (TBA): Use of Atlas tool, allign and possibly "Relax" of the unwrap plugin

All if these require a lot of patience. The checked background also helps a lot.
This is my way of saying that the guidebook I'm writing is coming soon. I'll possibly cover one or two of the methods above in there.

It's a kinda more updated version of the UV unwrap plugin. I found it from nicovideo tutorials.

Give me some time to find the link again

I found it and used it to attempt to make some hair. Thanks for the name of the plugin.

You're welcome. It works great when used with the UV power relax. I may make a tutorial for it.

I just made this: len11999.deviantart.com/art/MM… as a little test of the plugin and I'm thoroughly impressed with it.

2nd option every time
Atlas doesn't need relaxing, it's the most accurate, just gives too many seams

I agree, the second one is the easiest and most effective way.
On Altas, I connect some seams to gain a good shape and then use either align or relax (depends on the mesh) to have something similar to the primitive method.

I can be very annoying but patience is the key

I use metasequoia, it's a shareware and you can get it here:
