Description Found this little python in one of my hanging baskets on the veranda. Seems pretty laid back . It's OK, he won't hurt you.

Yes. Well if it's fully grown it could probably have the cat as a quick snack

What a peaceful and cozy scene. This pretty guy seems completely relaxed. Did he even react to your presence? Did you/could  you touch it?

Oh, btw, this photo is waaaaay better than the ones on the website you linked!

vanndra In reply to Inianna [2019-02-23 03:25:41 +0000 UTC]

No, he wasn't really interested. Waved his tongue a couple of times which I believe means that he/she was smelling us. Probably could have touched him but didn't want to scare him .

Thanks so much for you kind comment

A lot of people would most likely be quite surprised at the idea a snake could be scared by humans.^^

vanndra In reply to Inianna [2019-03-01 22:34:32 +0000 UTC]

I believe that that is why most of them attack/bite. In self defense as they are afraid and get a fright if you accidently get too close. There are those of course, like the huge Boas, that attack because they want to eat you . This is just a small python. Non poisoness. He will eat lizards, frogs etc. Some people keep this kind as a pet here. I don't like anything that is kept in cages

Inianna In reply to vanndra [2019-03-04 10:30:23 +0000 UTC]

I don't like caged animals either.  On the other side, I probably wouldn't have ever seen a real snake and come to admire their beauty, if it weren't for zoos, where they are kept in cages of glass.
Thank you for sharing your first hand experiences, dearest Ann!

vanndra In reply to Inianna [2019-03-04 23:14:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes, of course. And some zoos are good. I believe that some animals would be extinct if it weren't for zoos and wild life parks.

We are in the North East of QLD Australia. He could grow to around 5 meters but we have had a few come to say Hi and then they seem to disappear, We have semi rainforest just over the road as most of the island is natural heritage because of the Great Barrier Reef off the coast. We have a lot of Koalas here.
