Description
These little sun birds, sometimes called honey eaters, hang around our garden eating the nectar form the hibiscus, and various other flowering plants. This is the third nest that they have built near the house but this has been the first time that I've been able to catch mum peeping out while sitting on her eggs. They build their nests so that they hang from things like tree branches. One year they built a nest that hung from a chain that used to have a hanging basket on it.Thank you for any faves and comments. They are always very appreciated even if I don't get to say thanks for a while, I do see them and appreciate them

That's interesting - I have 3 spots with water and the lorikeets never use it! The cockatoos, corellas, doves, pigeons, noisy miners, magpies, mudlarks - but no lorikeets!

Yes. They're very clever. She's still sitting there this morning . They're very pretty tiny little birds. I took a photo of one on our grevillia a while back.

This bird seems to be a cross between those weavers that I caught in SA and the sunbirds with the long curved beak.
Lovely Jubbley

Wow! Good link - olive-backed sunbird. The nesting habit is a bit like weavers.
Great Stuff

Thanks Laszlo. I have to admit I was pretty pleased with myself when I was able to get that angle to get her sitting there
