Aww... I feel so evil... and mean... ;_;Poor Inu-baby...
Note: This is NOT anywhere in my list of hopes for that series. Nowhere at all. Nope. Nada. I firmly believe in a happy ending for the Inu-tachi, you hear me? HAPPY!!

They came that night, looking for the half demon child called Inuyasha. They were told to find the boy with white hair, dog ears and that he had yellow eyes with claws and fangs.
But on the night they were trying to find him, it was the night where the moon was gone, and he was a human child with black hair and dark eyes just like every other normal human child. And it was the night where Inuyasha will never forget.
The assassination was ordered by his grandfather, he couldn't stand one more minute of his existence. He told his daughter Izayoi countless times to get rid of Inuyasha, and that she can find herself a new husband and gain new children, washing away the shame she brought on the family for bearing the child of a demon, who was the Lord of the North none the less. But she refused, saying that Inuyasha is her son and she will always protect him.
So the Lord decides to take matters into his own hands.
One of the assassins found Izayoi and demanded that she tell them where the half demon child was, and she refused to say anything. Her refusal had deadly consequences and she was beaten until she met with a spear through her heart, Inuyasha was in the other room when it happened and ran out screaming, holding onto her while crying.
The assassins were shocked to see the boy was human, enraged they believed the Lord lied to them and believed he wanted the child dead because he was of illegitimate birth and did not want him to be the heir to the royal family. And with Izayoi's death by their hands, they decided that the only way to atone was to have the lord and the rest of the court killed. And when they went to find Izayoi's body, she was gone and so was her human child.
The sun was rising and Inuyasha was half demon again, and he started digging a hole to bury his mother, near by the lake she and Inuyasha would walk by together and that she loved ever so much. After he buried her, he placed her favorite white flowers on her grave.
He hated himself, he was human when she was killed. He couldn't protect her....all because on that night he was human...he became weak...he HATED his human self...he hated it. And that was when he made it his mission to find a way to become a full fledged demon.
No more weakness, no more hiding, no more being rejected...and no more guilt. And he will find it even if it kills him along the way.

Heh, I dunno... I think it was about the right length. Much as I loved the characters and world, the story itself started to drag a bit. Senescence is a terrible thing. D:

XD Thank you! As for the blood... I'm not sure whose it is, necessarily. It's up for interpretation, really... I know whose I think it is, but the image could mean so many different things, I don't want to say it and close off all the other ways it could be seen.

Well... she uses lighting a lot more extensively then I do, especially on skin-- and her backgrounds and themes are different too. Although I can see where the comparison comes from... (she seems to like off-center compositions, and so do I... or large areas of less detail being used for a specific mood...)
