Description
So I drew Felix again! (it's been such a long time since I last did, haha). It's Symbolic or something! I just wanted to make patterns ok D:My queue on tumblr means, for once a new piece is going up here first instead of there ._. (Lately it has been the other way around most of the time, particularly in the case of commissioned works).

how the heck did you do that background? either you've got some serious patience or some serious brush sets xD

Yaaaay pretty patterns! Did you just make several low-opacity layers for them? Did you draw all the patterns yourself or used some sort of nifty trick to make it go faster?

Yeah, I pretty much just used a bunch of layers set to Overlay/Soft Light (which is how I got the increased saturation, whereas lowering the values tends to just make things get fainter and duller).
For the patterns themselves, I reused an old pattern that I first created for this piece , which I made using the Pen tool in Photoshop. I later cleaned it up and added to it to reuse in my film .... The rest of it is more Paths, and using custom brushes to stroke them (with wide spacing and the shape dynamics set to Angle > Direction) so that I could get the radiating repetition.

I don't mind talking about how I did stuff when I actually have things to say :'D I did kinda use tricks here so it's pretty simple to describe. XD
It took me a long time to get a handle on the Pen tool in PS (and layer masks, too), but now that I have it can be super useful! Anytime I want to get a perfect circle, say, or a shape that repeats evenly along a curve (where ctrl + Ving it and transforming it into shape would be time-consuming and inexact), or if I want to make a shape that is very linear and has to follow exact perspective and my hands are too shaky to get it right, Paths are there to help out. C: I'd say it's worthwhile trying to learn them.

Hmm.... you know, I'm not sure, I've never used it.
According to google, it doesn't have a Pen tool, but it does allow you to create paths from selections? [link]

Iiiinteresting. Well I DO have CS2 photoshop but I usually get a little wiggled out by it :I *wuss* I have used it a couple times, like when I wanted Key Strokes for word bubbles.

Noo... I just don't like how everything's in different places than I'm used to, the symbols for tools are different too :I

Aahh.... well, it has way more tools (from what I understand, anyway, not being familiar with Elements). You should try acquainting yourself with it! :D It's a really powerful program.

That's what I hear XD When I just wanna work, I use elements. When I want to try a new skill/tool, I'll at times venture into CS. I just need to be sitting next to a person who could give me the quick run-down on everything and answer all my questions.

Well, I can't exactly sit beside you to help, but if you ever have questions about stuff feel free to ask! (in a Note or comment or whatever). I can't guarantee always having the time to give a detailed response, but I can usually manage...
Google can be pretty helpful too, for some questions :U
