Amantha's eyes fluttered open. Her memories were a behind a fog that seemed to thicken as her consciousness returned. There was the darkness. The chamber. The worried face of the stranger as she looked into Amantha's eyes. Claws, pain, and the spark of rage.

She tried to get up, but something seemed to weigh her down. Or rather, she herself was weighing her down. Her whole body seemed to be much heavier than she remembered. Clunky, unresponsive. How long was she out, drifting in and out of consciousness?

Her eyes began to regain their focus, and her answer soon took form. She was still in her armor, or so it seemed. The metal hand opened and closed at her command, but while it seemed she was in a suit of armor, something inside her told her otherwise. It was her body, and at the same time, it was not. What had happened to her? Why can't she remember?

It's been a long while since I devoted any time to my own characters, and considering the current situation being stuck at home, there's no better incentive to get back to it. And while you've seen Amantha before, suffice to say you've never seen her like this. My story takes the concept of a cyborg, and gives it a magical twist. I'm trying to find a way to tell the story in a more original way, and one thing that has kept me from going further is that I find that someone else has already done it, and better. But I shouldn't let that stop me from giving it my own, best shot.

I hope to do more conceptual pieces like this for each of my characters, and hopefully shape out their stories further as I go along. Mind you, I'm not going for some kind of high fantasy epic, but something a bit more down to earth... in a high fantasy setting. After all, not everyone can be a chosen one...
