...and of course, the 3D version.

Doing an almost monochromatic character was a considerable challenge, since I had to go for more consistency in the shading due to there not being any differences in texture in the skin, clothing, etc. Though not evident, I got inspiration from the sculptures of Bernini.

If there ever was anything I liked in the illustrated edition of Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, it was getting introduced to Gialorenzo Bernini's exquisite artwork. Though made of marble, the clothes look like they could sway in the wind.

*looks at own work* I tried, at least...

Please don't shoot me. A bit of critique. The shading (I'm guessing) on her left arm makes it look like her arm and the left glove are on opposite sides of her body. At least to me.
Otherwise, stunning work. A lot better than many attempts I've seen at making a 3D image. *applauds*

Well, you're not completely off the mark. The arm is supposed to be crossing over her body from her left to right side. Now, the problem was that the left arm was made with only two parts, the shoulder to wrist, and the actual left hand itself. Looking at it now (since I did this what-- a little over a year ago?), what I needed to do was to break it up to at least two more pieces, so the arm crossing over would have carried over better.

But thanks very much for your comments! It's been a while since I did my last 3D image (that would be the Heugoe piece in the fanart section), so I should give it another shot when I have the chance!

I can imagine but the overall image came out great.

I don't like shameless plugs but if you're interested I just started an art contest with monetary prizes at the end of it. [link]

Since the current deadline is September, I'll see if I'll be able to work on something for that.

Thank you... I'm sorry that the character looks scary, but it was what the requester asked for with this piece. I hope the other pieces in my gallery might include one or two you would like more.
