Description
...and foreground, and effects, and colors...Work in Progress shot for the Premium (or should I say Core...?) Commission for . In keeping with his themes of fantastical creatures and women, we have a catgirl and a lady centaur. I have a relatively detailed background planned out for this one, and hope the final version matches what's in my head!
The photo texture was taken from one of my personal shots: a bit of concrete flooring in a local mall's parking building. It was visually fascinating, so I pulled out my phone and took a couple of snaps at it. Unlikely sources of inspiration, and all that. Cherish them!

Always interesting where inspiration finds you. I have often visited British Columbia, Canada and visited Simeon Frasier University. Surprisingly I have found everything from Battlestar Galactica corridor (Parking garage), X-files (assorted building and grounds), Star Trek (fountain grounds), Star Gate nad Star Gate: Atlantis (garage, buildings, courtyard, park area, and likely more). Helps that the University has a fantastic location.
As for the picture, it continues to get better with every look.

Sometimes you just have to be looking for a particular thing. In my case, I was looking for possible photo textures, so interesting images and surfaces start to be more noticeable for me.
There are a bunch of phototexture sites out there, and I used cgtextures.com for a while when I started learning to use textures. Now, I've taken to gathering my own pics, as that allows me to have more of a personal touch to my work. While the current texture served mostly as an inspiration for the setting, I'm going to be using some others for the different surfaces in the final work.
Glad to know you're enjoying the progress!
