Question, would the fanfic possibly be on Fanfiction.net? I tried the link, but couldn't find it, and I couldn't figure out the page between it closing out my browser, and going to different pointless other pages.

these are raptors from jurassic world, they have other DNA in them as well, which caused them to look different as well as most likely making them a whole lot more smart from what I've seen from the movie and the original jurassic park movies.

DannyAndYoko In reply to nathanl9 [2017-07-10 09:40:29 +0000 UTC]
I don't think it made them smarter, I believe they just underestimated raptor intelligence.
Also I believe the frog DNA they used to complete some DNA strings enabled some to change gender to male, so that the females could get pregnant.
Personally I would've made only male dinosaurs and then castrate them while they're young, seems so much easier and risk free... XD

true but you never know they could have added some human DNA in some places

Unlikely, they used the frog as it was more compatible for some reason.
Maybe birds as well XD

they didn't say that was all the DNA they used though

DannyAndYoko In reply to nathanl9 [2017-07-11 21:48:05 +0000 UTC]
Why make it more complicated then you have to?
Genetic manipulation is a very complex and difficult thing, you don't just throw in DNA from all kinds of different species... :\

This is a very neat idea indeed! Who else would've thought of Blue having a sweet tooth for delicious cookies? Not me xD
Also, I love how it has a cartoony look to it while having a bit of that Jurassic World realism!
The position is great as well as the background, showing you put in great effort to making this amazing picture!
A+ for this!Β Β
Keep up the good work ;D

For some reason the actual concept behind this picture doesn't bother me, but it's the anatomy that does. Velociraptors could not move their wrists into those positions, meaning the hands are in a permanent "clapping" position. Raptors can't actually move their legs like that without dislocating them, and believe it or not despite them having a long tail it wasn't very flexible. Also, velociraptors and other dromeosaurids were completely covered in feathers kind of like a vicious ankle biting bird. But that can be forgiven since Jurassic Park/World raptors didn't have feathers or pronated wrists (a random bit of info about the JP/W raptors is that they'd technically be Utahraptors, not Velociraptors due to the size. Velociraptors weren't even two feet tall! So in reality they're tiny, angry, feather covered, ankle biters.)Β
Other than the messed up anatomy (don't worry! People get dinosaur anatomy wrong all the time! They're very hard creatures to draw! Heck, I'm still trying to figure out how to draw their legs and feet correctly.) the background, coloring, and details do look pretty nice! Nice work on the eyes!Β

Okay as far as the movie is concerned the design differences between what we know in real life vs what we see in the movie was explained with this quote from one of the characters Dr. Wu "Nothing in Jurassic World is natural, we have always filled gaps in the genome with the DNA of other animals. And if the genetic code was pure, many of them would look quite different.".
As for how people depict Dinosaurs in media there is no right or wrong way as our understanding of the animals only comes from their fossilized bones and our knowledge of modern animals. We can only guess on what they really looked like and how their bodies worked without having the flesh to examine. Also the name for the Utahraptor was velociraptors until 2001 when fossils were discovered in Utah that showed that the Utahraptor's and Velociraptor's were different species.

I'm so, so sorry if I've caused a fiasco, I feel horrible about pointing out some anatomical errors. I don't normally do this.Β
I'm looking over my original statement, and I think it's okay to say that anything can be up for artistic interpretation when it comes to drawing now extinct organisms. We simply don't know exactly what they look like in the flesh because what remains that have been uncovered, are just fossilized skeletons.Β
