Description

Through sluggish motions Willow walked, clinging to what little warmth her blanket had to offer. The winter, as predicted, had been harsh. Supplies were low, many were sick, and a heavy veil of despair draped over the smothered town. It was like death had come and taken residence in the once peaceful Wynsiph. Anywhere one looked a body could be found, curled in a posture of discomfort only to be claimed by the harrowing visitor. Nothing was going right-- it felt as hope was gone and the only path was devoid of light.

Eager to push back weighted thoughts, Willow stalked through the tents hoping to find something to distract her mind. One could classify it as restless distress-- being held in one spot surrounded by so much death was taxing on the mind. For Willow, she saw the bodies, the corpses that piled by the day... but everything felt worse as she watched the shadow creatures grow with teeming numbers. They perched on the deceased, coiled around those in despair, stalked the weary, and haunted in indiscriminate manners. The darker her thoughts grew, the more she saw.

Walking helped, though admittedly not too much, but the exercise eased any initial surface thoughts. Willow, like most, were searching for something-- anything to help pull the mind from the pits of depression. Her attempts were proving fruitless until her eyes fell upon a somewhat familiar face.

Staring down with a glazed expression sat a grey biped. They were sitting on the edge of their bed watching the ground with not a single hint of emotion. Willow froze, her heart fluttered and head grew hot. His features, coloration and general appearance looked eerily similar to a childhood friend that had gone missing. Feathers, fur, mismatched spots and the ever familiar two-toned gaze summoned long-buried memories of little Willow and her mute friend, Sparrow.

Was this the same wyngling from back then? If so, where had he been?

Struggling to summon the courage, she called to the wyngro. She was met with silence the first few tries but soon they stirred. With a small motion they looked up and locked eyes. Looking into the gaze Willow was met with a wall. It was as if their soul had been shut away, locked deep within to shield it away from the ever present decay. Willow hesitated, then attempted to call to the Wyngro again. "S-Sparrow, is it really you?" It took a moment, but after a delay he nodded. Willow's heart thrummed against her chest and her cheeks grew hot. Tears welled within her glowing eyes and a shiver took hold of her form.

Her friend was back...

... Sparrow, was back!

Here we have a beautiful, heartwaring reuniting colab between theYTfox and I! We have been trying to get these two to meet again and it finally felt like the time was right. I did the sketch and lining and Fox did the amazing coloring, shading and bg. It is seriously a delight and it has definitely been fun. Thanks for working with me, Fox!
