Description
I saw this nice place yesterday, while visiting the Riverside Cemetery in Denver.Unfortunately my lens caused some purple fringing in the picture - I guess I'll soon start looking for a better quality wide-angle lens (using the stock one now) - probably the 18-200mm one.

Lovely shot. The IR effect combined with the reflection make this a rather magical image. The original is neat, but the blues in this one might make it even more pleasing to the eye

If this was wider, it'd make a great desktop! Awesome shot, nonetheless.

Not only do I love the reflection but the way the colors worked out are perfect. There is just something about reflection shots that make give me the same feeling as when I thing about the universe... Anyway wonderful job

It was shot in Infrared and post-edited in Photoshop - mainly noise cleanup (didn't realize I shot it in ISO 400 until I was already home), some cropping and of course the blue<->red channel swap.
Aside from that it wasn't touched - I can post the original photo (w/o any modifications) if you want
Glad you liked it!

Which one do you mean by 'stock one'? 18-70? It's a better lens than the 18-200 on the overlapping focal lenght. I can't tell you anything about the IR performance of the 18-200VR, but the 18-70 is usable.

Ooops, sorry - I meant the 18-135 one, which as mentioned doesn't perform percectly in IR (especially above 100mm).
I may get the 18-200 for its versability, but I will most likely suffer from the decrease of image quality on both ends of the range.

any purple fringe / aberation is minor and hard to see, or you post worked it out which is good.
IR looks nice with the subject choice and flawless reflection i just feel a bit heavily exposed in some areas.
when u say a new wide-angle, then possibly an 18-200 zoom wouldnt be suitable lol?
tokina 12-24
tamrons 10-24 should be released this year.

I spent several hours on this photo as I liked the scene, but the shot wasn't perfect - glad to hear you liked it.
The heavy exposure is due to my playing with surves a bit (and probably wrong monitor calibration on my side
Speaking of lenses - I am considering getting the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X ( [link] ) - as I badly need a wide-angle lens (may use for underwater photography as well). But I will for sure check on the Tamron 10-24 as it may be more versatile lens.
But there are few other things to take care before I can spend money on the lens and later the D300 - things like my wedding, credit card bills, etc
Speaking of 18-200 - I don't know anymore - it is a flexible lens, but I have heard so many contradicting reviews. Would be VERY useful during my round-the-world trip next year, but I don't know if I will be perfectly happy with it.

you speak the truth and hey i totaly feel u with the priorities and commitments my friend!
but yeah that 11-16 is an absolute fucking beast i recomend it til i lay to rest
d300 are so rediculously well priced now days i find it hard to get my mind around it.
imo for roud the world trip it totaly depends on what u shoot no doubt but i think a 11-16 or 10-24 will still do the most justice. subject to opinion ofcourse.
+watch u to

I feel tempted though - perhaps a "small" purchase of 11-16 as my wedding gift to myself? So many temptations - so little money :-D
I sure envy you with your clear skies and lots of sun - it has been cloudy the last 3 weeks here - barely any sun and lots and lots of rain.
I remember Australia's weather from the last year (though it's proably getting closer to the rainy season - depending on where you live) - wish I could have it here .. hehe.
And for the big trip I will for sure get 105mm macro (lovely for potraits), some wide-angle - perhaps the 11-16 or 10-24 and something in the 18-200 or 70-200 range.
Now, the only thing left is to not get robbed
