Sorry I haven't been around for so long!
There's really something that makes you catch your breath in this... the last dying flame, the wax almost like blood, the candles toppling to one side - it reflects that incredibly sad time when festivities come to an end. The title is perfect.

Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm not sure if one would call it my "best piece". I sure hope I'm improving though, I'm really happy you think my work is moving in the right direction.
I took this picture in a Taoist temple compound thing when I was visiting Chengdu. When I saw it, immediately knew it would make for a really interesting picture. It's been sitting on my hard drive for a few months forgotten about until my birthday. I decided to stay up till sunrise that day, half to study for an exam and half because there really was nothing else happening for my birthday. After several hours of studying I decided to work on a frame. I wanted a sort of birthday-ish one... so I decided to take one with the candle. I was pretty burnt out from exams by then... sort of a double pun I guess.
It's funny, because I'm sending you this message in an airport right now... my flight is boarding, so I gotta run. How cliche/dramatic eh?

It's pretty grainy... I guess I haven't polished it up as much as I'd have liked... maybe I'll fix up the image later.
I just wanted to remember better times right now. I've decided to wait till I see the sunrise today so I figured I might as well do some work on my pictures. Hard given the current circumstances but it's a good break. There aren't quite 20 candles, nor is it anything remotely close to a cake... but you know...
