cool effect! it works wonderfully with the subject it looks almost like digital art because of the lines and the slight blurring and just the softness... like it belongs in a background for some anime thing or something lol it's a gorgeous picture too, I love those water lilies

Hey thanks! I was worried that the photo would look relatively unremarkable even after the process. I'm glad you think otherwise! I really love those water lilies too. I'm starting to think that I'd like to visit Vietnam someday.
The Orton method was originally used for film, it's a darkroom method that's been adapted to be used on digital. I'll show you how someday if you're curious?

This is a photo from a friend of mine taken on her trip there recently. It looked neat and was close at hand when I decided to try out something called the Orton Method. Pretty much, in a nutshell it includes taking a high exposure frame, and combining it with a blurred one for a softer effect.
