Description
Weekend home-to-do stuff. I was thinking of creating an Unique Abstract Art, and thought insect is a good start. It just based on my imagination and I made this. There are 2 layers of tiny hair around the torso which is the most difficult part of all.
I call it the "Abstract Insect 2005"

I didn't see it as an insect when I first saw it.
Just some purdy black and white abstract that I found most awesome. :]

Oh your use of transparency is brilliant. I actually sat here studying it for a few minutes trying to determine how you acheived all the different details.

its an amazing work! congrats!..i especially liked head and the body part... but i must admit that i d want it to be more like an insact+ spider..because the leg parts through the end part looks like a water creature + insact..but of course it s very aesthetic and have wonderful detailing of an artist like you..

if you don't mind me asking, how do you get the glow around the insect and the letters? and how do you get the background striped like that?
i like this peice, the designs in the abdomen area are really cool!

mrempy, the glow is a tool in Illustrator call outer glow: Effect> Stylize>Outer Glow. I set it as screen mode and applied white. Usually, the first glow won't be that effective; however, dont apply the same effect again, just Ctrl+C the first glow and Ctrl+B to paste it at the back. By doing this, the glow will be natural.
The strip is very simple. Draw a long line, 45 degree angle, and keep doing it until it totally covers the whole artboard. There is a shortcut key which is Ctrl+D or Apple+D after you Alt+Drag the line briefly out.

It's really cool. But the font has to be more middle, in my humble opinion...
