Bit weird, isn't it? To have gone this long without doing a solo of the man (kid) himself? Like I've said I never intended to forget or ignore the "old guard" but it can be tricky since I'm essentially having to balance three different "casts": D.W. and friends as the main focus, then Arthur and company and ALSO the adults and parents. I was thinking maybe a good place to start might be deciding who the "main" character is of each supplementary cast and then working forward from there: D.W. for the kids (obviously), Arthur for the pre-teen/teenage adventures and David and Jane for the adult-centered stories. Not to say that everything that happens has to be tied to the Reads; like on Arthur sometimes it'll just be someone else's show for that episode.
But I digress...What's happened to Arthur in four years? At 12 years old he's on the cusp of glorious teenager-hood and longs to be treated with the respect a responsible "young-adult" like himself is due. As David and Jane get busier with their respective jobs it's left to Arthur to oversee D.W. and Kate for good stretches of time after school (I know Jane works from home but tax accounting can be very time consuming) much to D.W.'s chagrin (who continues to make things as difficult for him as possible).

Overall, though, his and D.W.'s relationship has gotten better - with D.W. even being willing to come to him for advice (when all else has failed) and while Arthur is always eager to bestow upon her his SAGE advice () he also knows when to just to listen rather than talk and is genuinely concerned about both his little sisters.
