Description
So when I started doing D.W. it was her and her friends that were going to be the stars most of the time with the "old guard" only making occasional cameos, and for the most part I've held to that pretty well (aside from the 'Buster's Parents' arc).I mention this because you may have noticed that these new stills seem to tweak their presentations a bit from what they were in the strip, and that's because - aside from D.W. and her friends - I really hadn't sketched out ANY of these characters' designs beforehand; instead opting to come up with outfits pretty much on the spot.
With Arthur and the gang I used the outfits they wore as 13-year-olds at the end of the episode "The Contest" as models (though I greatly altered Muffy and Francine's outfits since they looked too much alike and what Francine wore seemed really uncharacteristic to me). But since I've started doing this solos I've tried to add more individuality to them (both in terms of my own creativity and the character themselves). vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/a…
I suppose I should talk about Buster some, right? He's still mostly the same guy. Maybe a bit more sarcastic and cynical, especially towards his parents, but as we've seen that could be starting to change.
He's still a comedian but he's started to pull away from gags and knock-knocks and use more "mature" forms (whatever THAT means. Observational? I dunno

Dang it's been how long since I watched that show?
I remember a few of these characters (Buster being one)
I think I lost all interest in the show when I got a bit older. Didn't interest me anymore.
Your art is great though.

Thank you!
"Losing interest with age"? So did I, to be honest.
That's basically what "D.W." is: the 'Arthur' show I would want to see now.
That said, I DO still watch Arthur - to get screen caps of characters and locations for drawing reference (and sometimes for fun ) and I can tell you it HAS declined in quality recently - and not just because it's flash now instead of traditional animation. Understandably, there's going to be some 'fatigue' when anything is on the air for such a long time; the creators likely know that it needs some sort of kick in the pants but the last time they tried (Postcards from Buster) it didn't really pan out so now they're too nervous to try anything else.

I see. I'm doing a similar thing: creating a sonic stop motion animation with character development and story elements that I've been wanting from the series for some time. I'd like to say forces delivered but it didn't really click with me...mostly due to lackluster writing.
So, with computer and mediocre writing skills at hand, I've been working on making my own stories, like you do with your D.W. line of comics it seems.

He looks great! I also admire how you make them look like actual 13-year-olds.
And I agree, Francine's outfit was completely uncharacteristic. Don't get me wrong, I've known tomboys who completely embraced their feminine side come high school, but it still seemed like a little much for Francine.

I put money on the outfit in that flash forward being the result of some kind of bet that she lost.
