Part of ''Pepe - A Looney Tunes Show''---------------------------
So in the "Pepe" universe, Minerva (or Minnie, for short) is a 20-something socialite whose cashflow has recently been cut off and is desperate to attach herself to some money lest she be forced to become self-sufficient. Personality-wise she's much the same as you might remember; not evil, per se, but incredibly shallow, superficial, and self-obsessed. She pegs Pepe for an naive and romantically inexperienced pushover (which he kinda IS, in spite all his posturing to the contrary) and immediately gloms herself onto him - and his wallet.
However, in spite of her near constant presence around Pepe (and her insistence to everyone who sees them that she's his girlfriend) she remains squarely in the "friend-zone". Why? Truth-be-told Pepe is actually quite wise as to her true intentions (he could hardly have made it this far in business if he couldn't tell when someone was playing an angle), but besides Hampton and Penelope he doesn't really have any "friends", and she's not really a bad person in his eyes; just a bit childish. What's more, in the rare instances she gets bored of spending money and actually pays attention to the things happening at his company, she actually shows herself to quite the shark when it comes to business; often playing a much needed foil to the overly cautious Hampton (much to the pig's chagrin). Plus, having her around gives Pepe an excuse to spend his money on just dumb fun every now and then - helping him unwind.
Pepe is not quite as oblivious to his "odor issue" in this show as he could seem to be in some of his classic shorts - especially since he's started seeing Penelope about it. But the odor doesn't bother him nearly as much as others, so if he isn't paying attention (like above) it can start up and cause trouble before he catches himself. This can be especially difficult for Minerva since she's desperate to remain in his good graces, and so NEVER wants to confess it as being an issue no matter what (again, see above
I think part of it stems from a secret battle with low self-esteem (which Penelope would help her uncover); Minerva is sincerely convinced that there's nothing to her BUT her looks, so at first she'll ignore her prodigious potential for business as just 'Something that comes when you spend as much money as I do'. My arc for her is to keep growing in confidence with the help of Pepe, Penelope, Hampton and Babs until finally coming to recognize them all as her friends (instead of just marks), detaching herself from Pepe, and eventually taking a job at his company, quickly becoming a rising star there.
I had this tune in mind as everything was coming together:Β youtu.be/fKyXVFN8znk?t=10

Minks can also be quite stinky though. It's a pretty common self defence mechanism in both skunks and mustelids, as well as in some other carnivorans such as civets.

I'm genuinely surprised and happy that youβre going back to this idea. And I love your take on Minerva. The whole situation she finds herself in feels realistic to her character: Either hook up with someone rich or get a job.
When you looked closer at her, she was really unlikable as a character. She was shallow, greedy and manipulative. Her schtick was that she complained about being single, but rejected those who showed genuine love for her. Then a virile jerk would show up, she'd behave in the same way as the boys she'd dealt with and get cruelly rejected in the same manner.Β
Honestly, I could see her as a villain for the first few episodes or the first season, but as time goes on, she gets better as a person (uh, mink).Β
Youβve summed up her initial interactions with Pepe here. Fighting the urge to vomit, trying not to hold her nose so as not to offend her potential beau, etc. I can hear her thinking "C'mon, girl. Just think of his credit cards!"
And Pepe is well aware that heβs with a gold digger and is most likely judging her. Maybe he's unleashing his musk on purpose.
I hope to see more of this idea! Β

Thank you for such a full comment!
I'm glad you like the role I wrote for her, and I do indeed hope to do more in this universe before too long.
