I think the double panels are nice for alerting us to a universe transition. By the way, I love the design of those suits. As well as the characters wearing them.

They did, they just don't wear them.
As stated in the above page the new squad's gear is an alteration on the 'spy gear' the cyber-squad wore in the episode "Fortress of Attitude" - I thought it was really cool but if memory serves I think they only wore them one other time afterwards, IF that, and I've been sorely missing them ever since 
However if you're asking about Matt, Jackie and Inez in my comic getting makeovers at some point, all I can say for now is...

This is an absolutely perfect transition between the two worlds. Up next...how exactly did Matt get captured by the Intersquad and does he know anything more than the girls? Besides finding that out, I'm actually looking forward to Jackie and Patch meeting; considering she's the only member of the Cybersquad not currently captured, it'll have to be her.
