Today I put a lot of work into my Mando helm.These are the Work In Progress photos.
John "Kantis" suggested I take progress photos, since he always forgets to on his projects.
Side view of the weathering. As you can see the ear pieces aren't on the helm yet. The still need a lot of sanding before them get added.

seriously shut up and tkae my money i'd so want this helmet i love the design. just some questions how did you make the over plate on the forehead and would it be possible to make another one not painted just raw cast (if its cast)

Not a cast. The piece in question came off a cheap Chinese fighter helmet found on eBay.

At any rate, I just joined up with the Mandalorian Mercs forum. Β Interesting techniques using paper, resin, and fiberglass. Β Is that the techniques you employed for the helmet portion? Β Any tips for an FNG to the world of costuming?

I've kinda come at it like a monkey hitting it with a hammer, just trying different things till it works. So I'm not the best at advice.

Sadly no. I am currently deployed.
The housing came from a cheap Chinese fighter helm. Found that on ebay a few years back, I imagine they still sell them. about $30 back then.

Well if you ever decide you dont want the visor housing, I'll take it off your hands. I really dont need the whole chinese fighter helmet.

What's so incredibly awesome about the Mandalorians is that they don't have to be Force-sensitive in order to be badass characters. Too often, Star Wars literature puts too much emphasis on Jedi/Sith characters and makes the rest of us "common" people feel pretty useless to the story.
Let's be honest, though. Being a Force-sensitive Mando would be doubly awesome.

Agreed. I think that is why I enjoyed the Republic Commando series so much. Sure it was mostly about clones going Mando, but the Clones are easy for me to relate to being military myself.

Yeah, I have a visor for it, I just need to level out the inside so it will lay flat.
