We've all been there. Eagerly loading parameters into UF in the hope of learning something new or finding something fun to play with.Then the disappointment as you realise a Private formula has been used and you don't have it!
What's more, the artist who made the image doesn't know where they got it from either!
To address this problem I have started a List here on Deviant Art which you can refer to when needed, hopefully enabling you to track down missing formulas. I've been meaning to do this for ages, for my own use. I thought I might as well share with the UF community at large. The listing page consists of links to formula files both on and off Deviant Art. You will have to individually download and save whatever you want.
Note: As I don't personally have all of these formulas please don't ask for them or any others not listed here. This is all that I know!
The list is small and basic for now but maybe it will grow in time, covering files I am not aware of. I hope you find it useful anyway.

Hi Chris,
This week I organized my folders of UF 5 after your note at my first entry of the Challenge Xaos Catseye November 2017.
It truly was a mess. I indeed had received different private formula's in the past. Just last year I learned that those formula's have to be saved in th folder My Formula's.
Thanks a lot for your reproof. I made a reference to your list at my contribution, as you will see.
And also many thanks for the work you had making this reference list. A hell of a job!!

"My Formulas" will work. It's just a place to keep private formulas separate from public ones.
At least now you will be more aware of what formulas you are choosing when you make new fractals.

Hi Chris. I just noticed you credited me with authorship of the Moshiahobrot formula. I didn't write it! It was written by Edgar Malinovsky. I copied the code from Fractal Forums and saved it as a ucl because it's not in the database. Could you correct this, please? I don't want credit where it's not due.

I too am getting that server error message. Either it is a temporary difficulty or perhaps the site has gone forever, I do not know. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the info!

Karin, I just learned yesterday that the owner of nahee.com died last year so that site is probably gone forever now.
I have updated my private formulas list and uploaded a few of those files to my stash to cover the loss of those files as best I can. So if you are missing anything please check the list again!

Will have to look at this next weekend possibly - more time on weekends, I have extra formulas from my old UF.
For example ducky2 , which got re-written does not share the same formula properties anymore - so in order to view some of my fave fractals created previously, I had to recover my old UF formulas from my broken harddrive.

Thanks. I only want resources I can provide a link to for download, though. If you don't have that info then it's no use for my list I'm afraid.
I had to ask someone just a few days ago about a private formula - she had no idea where it came from so I couldn't add it to this list and declined her offer of a privately shared copy of the UFM (I don't want to risk propagating the problem to others if the source is unknown). It's a shame but there you go.

I know what you mean Chris, adding formulas which where written in the past without giving credit to the coder, would be a bit shady
I don't exactly recall, who wrote the original ducky2, I got the whole formula folder via link in fractal chat from a friend - I think "ducky2" was written and coded by misterxz but not completely sure ...
well - I think submitting things and posting "coder name unknown" would be acceptable too, most of formulas, codes given, released to the community are "open code", which states they free.
I had to do the same thing with Apo - re-written plugins don't work exactly the same, as the previous versions, so you ought to learn to hang-on to unperfect codes, especially if you managed to have some nice designs using them
Recovery is fine - "old barracuda drive" still works, as an external storage drive

Oh, don't get me started on Apo plugins! A total nightmare, especially if you are a newbie, and really off-putting.
Oh well, glad to hear your storage drive is doing its job properly. Barracudas have always been very well regarded though I have never had one myself.

Thanks for sharing. I've been keeping my own personal list, but didn't think to share it. It's nice to be able to compare notes. You had a few that I didn't and vice versa.
