Description After doing some similar renders for my client, I thought I'd give it a spin on my older models. Really like how the details show up.

So very very awesome

I love this sorta thing, even to this day all the models I make and fool around with are coloured like this in fake "clay" colours so it feels like I'm making a prototype toy, lol.

And all I'm doing is making mock-ups that have no need for colour and I still do it anyways, lol.

I do like a regular clay grey-ish for regular stuff, and a more browny for any "armour/accessories" or things like that, and a whitey colour for any weapons, lol. I'm very, very weird like that, lol :-P

The idea for the different colors tones on different part types is interesting. I think it'd be worth trying.

Oh go fer it for sure, it really cool on if you ever have to remodel a couple parts and use a different shade for those.

I pretty much got the idea from proto shots the Four Horsemen did on their website of their Batman and He-Man toylines, here's a really good example: The base re-used Batman body is in white, and all the remolded stuff and new accessories are in a fresh new clay colour:

Thanks dude! Yup, I got one new animation up on there. But its private, as the client isn't ready to show. If you got a youtube account, hit me with a note, and I could let you see it, if were friends on there.

Crap!! Sorry man.. I guess I just got a bit excited ^_^"

I'll look forward to your edited version, what ever the edit is!!

I know you said you weren't too sure about the finishing pose.. I would probably say something focusing on her having two pistols, maybe both of them aiming at the screen, or.. maybe check out some of her G1 artwork or screenshots for inspiration? Just a suggestion of course

Sorry again for blurting dude ^_^"" heh..

Venksta In reply to zero-child [2009-08-15 22:52:36 +0000 UTC]

Oh, its no problem. People won't be able to see it right now anyways, so it doesn't matter. xD
The pose does end with her posing with the two guns. I guess it wasn't noticeable? Lol. The next animation will be more exciting compared to this, as the figure is more complicated in design.

Watching it again your quite right.. is that how small the pistols will be on the finished product?

I'll hold my hands up and admit I have NEVER rendered or animated anything in 3D in my life... but... would it be overly complicated to get some kinda gunslinger styled movements in the finishing pose?.. perhaps have her draw the pistols, spinning them in each hand? ....or is that a little advantageous? heh.. Oddly enough I have the exact same problem with an idea for a custom at the moment. A Powermaster ROTF Optimus Prime... I know what I want it to do and how it should look (roughly) ...but I have no idea (or the funds) where to start! -_-"

In all seriousness though dude.. just your renders alone are enough to make me wanna pick this stuff up... it certainly had that affect on me with the City Commander set!!

Well, the guys are happy with the animation. So I'm not going to touch it. But I had originally planned for her to grab the guns in a stylish way, but it broke the camera's action. So I didn't go for it. Those renders that IT put up on their site are actually by me, lol. But the model is the one used for the toy, done by someone else. The guns are small. Their based off the gun she had in the old movie.
