I kid, I kid. But you are getting a lot better.
If I could make a suggestion, a really nice way to get a realistic gold effect is to shade it with a combination of more brown and a little touch of black.
It looks pretty close to what you've done in the bottom pic.

Brown? Okay! I will try that. I am working on contest prizes right now, so I will try with a little brown, and use more black. XD Does that work with all colors, though? Maybe green with some blue, and blue with some black?

No, no, not with all colours. xD
Just gold. Because shadows hitting real gold makes it brown.
Humn, let me see, purple works really well to shade for pale yellow. Use it lightly though, because you want just a small hint of it.
Also, a more bluish-grey works well if you're shading skin, partially because that's how the light hits your skin, and partially because it brings out the blue tints of your veins.
And yeah, blue works really well if you highlight black with it, especially on hair.
It's all relative, really. The best way to do it is to find a real object that's the colour you want to use, and look carefully at the shadows on it.

Someone mentioned to me that india ink's also v good for lineart, so I'd like to try that at some point.
