I suddenly felt compelled to draw Doc Worth. Also, Doc worth without his fuzzy coat, so GLORIFIED DOODLE TIME!When I did the bunch of doodles earlier, I had a bunch of wraps around his arms when his jacket was off and somebody asked me what they were for. Instead of just replying with GOOD OLD FASHIONED WORDS, I drew a pic instead.
The scars are from himself, but done for fun. Doc had a spell in his life where a nick from a knife felt pretty damn good and it grew into a habit. It's still a bit of a habit, but not as prominent. He wears sleeves and wraps to avoid questions (as Doc doesn't really talk about himself much, ever) but isn't ashamed of it.
Doc may seem like he has hit rock bottom in some ways, but don't feel too bad for him. I am getting a feeling that Worth is quite happy where he is right now, despite that place being in an alley, while being borderline homeless and smelling like old cigarettes and hospital grade cleaning supplies.
His family, however, probably feels otherwise.

I never felt bad for Doc Worth. I don't think he'd be half as cool if he wasn't how he is.
And he seems to enjoy himself so what evers.

Wow, this may be really durpy and emotional to say but...
I've been having a bout with that for YEARS, and today there was a bunch of drama at school involving it and how I need help, but when I get online and see my favorite character in my favorite comic with so many scars like mine... I got a little teary. He's awesome, despite his mental state, and SO AM I.

The back story behind his self mutilation seems fitting. He seems like the kind of guy to not be easily ashamed or embarrassed. As well as enjoying it.

The shadows, the pose, the colors, the expression, the cropping
everything comes together so beautifully in this.
The placement of his left hand suggests he might be a bit uncomfortable with us seeing, but his face says the exact opposite.
The eyes and the smirk together make it for me, I think. He's got to be the most adorable scruffy man I've ever laid eyes on.
What I especially love is just how much depth this gives him as a character. ALL your characters, Tessa, just have so much beneath the surface we haven't even considered. Like ~myoneandonly said earlier, they're like a seven layer dip. yeah, I used it. But I look forward to continuing to learn more about the whole team, and to falling more and more in love with them as we do. c:

I concur. I'm still trying to place exactly what it is, but I think it's something to do with the vulnerability of exposing his scars mixed with the devil-may-care attitude he wears on his face.
And that's what makes him so attractive, probably. The fact that he's not supposed to be. He's the guy our mommas warned us about. XD
besides, I doubt House was supposed to be attractive either, and look at HIM.

I like what *paperfetish said, about there being a weird sort of pride in his stance and expression. Almost a lazily defiant "Yeah, what of it?" type of attitude. I LOVE WORTH. He is like an amalgam of all of my favorite character traits.
