Part of an art trade with !Spec is mega badass and awesome, and it was fun as hell to do. Kinda helped pull me out of my art rut too. So good times were had by all!
I love the hero scarf he has.
I also found the screentone thing, I know I know. But I thought it looked cool...

How did you do that dotted texture in the background? I've been trying to figure out how to do that for months. ;~;

Ohh! You take a new document and put a gradient on it and then go to image>mode>bitmap.
Then a window will pop up and ask you what resolution and method you want to use. Under method there's a drop down and you choose "Halftone Pattern". Then click ok.
Another window will pop up and ask you what frequency you want. I used about 5 for this particular background, and then you can mess with the angle and choose what shape you want the dots to be, but I usually go with round.

I actually cheated and used Photoshop screentones, to be honest, so they were free.
