Description Wayell... I drew this a while ago. Earlier this year to be exact. That's how long I've been without a scanner. *SIGH* Anyway, I realise how awfully pretty this viking guy is... you don't need to remind me how historically inacurate he is. I have this thing where I can't draw ugly guys, and I TRIED to give him a manly viking beard.... didn't work. I just couldn't do it to him. I have a couple more old drawings to post, then my "newer" stuff. I hate not having a scanner...
If anyone is wondering, I did get the title from Mithotyn....

Wow. See when I think viking man, I think 13th Warrior. That's got some hot viking guys who still look like vikings. This guy... he looks like a power metal singer... Like he should be singing for Dragonforce or Hammerfall or even Rhapsody. It's like, if Dragonforce were sing about the subjects that Hammerfall sings about. In the end, however, power metal singers want to be medieval warriors anyway. So it all works out.

Indeed... I think I was gazing at Alexi Laiho plastered on my wall and listening to... something else. When I think of viking, I think either 13th Warrior or Finntroll, but like I said... beard didn't work on his face. Neither did bulky muscles. But ah well. Vikings are hot, either way.

I've honestly never been able to enjoy Finntroll. I enjoy camp with my metal, but they're just TOO absurd, even for me. My roomy loves them, and apparently I'm the only person he's ever met who doesn't like Polka Metal. However, 13th Warrior is the only good viking movie, in my book. There are others, but it's just such an unappreciated bit of historicalizing of fiction (ooh, I pulled that term out of my ass). When they're all saying that prayer before the final battle... oooh sends shivers of goodness up my spine. Reminds me of the scene in Conan, where Conan tells his own god to fuck off if he doesn't listen.

Ha ha, Finntroll is odd I have to admit... that's why I like them, I think... because they're Different. Something like that... I just see their band pics and it looks like they drink a bit too much and take themselves maybe too seriously. Do they actually think they're trolls? Who knows, who cares... bring on the mead.
