Here's the promised speedpainting tutorial!
I'm sorry it's so big, but I honestly suck at Flash and this is the best I could do. I hope that you'll find it helpful!
you'll find all of the brushes I use here: [link]
And here you can find a selection of other quality brushes: [link] and tutorials: [link]

Also, your speedpainting skills are extremely good. I have no idea how to match your impeccable talent. I just tried this, and it absolutely sucks.

Thank you so much!! I am a beginner when it comes to backgrounds, because I don't really focus on them, just the main subject of what I'm drawing. I'm wanting to learn how to take care of my 'issue' and I see this. Great tutorial, and I'll be using these tips. I now have plenty backgrounds I want to try out. Thanks again!

After scouring through tutorials, I decided yours was the most helpful and in depth so I used to it to create my first speed painting.  Here it is > alendiel.deviantart.com/art/Fi⦠ It turned out better than I hoped, but definitely still not at the level I would like, so I will just keep on practicing.  Thanks for the tutorial, I had a lot of fun learning.

When you copy and pasted the image to create the reflection in the pond, did you have multiple layers selected or did you create a copy of them all and merge them. From my experience I haven't been able to copy from multiple layers at once. Super appreciate you taking the time to read this and answer if you are able. <3 Love your work.

in photoshop normal copy is ctrl+c. to copy from all layers at once use ctrl+shift+c or pick it from the drop down menu under edit>copy merged

very nice tutorial! I do have a question though, I usually draw pencil drawings and have no idea how to color them. I'm using paper for now until I can buy a tablet to digitize my drawings. I want to create artworks that look really nice and in depth in color and shading, the first time I tried to color one of my pencil drawings it turned out a disaster! So what do you recommend? Draw the outline of the work with a pencil? or simply use colors for the entire artwork and shading? And if so any tips on how to color or paint the artwork well? Thanks!Β

Thank you so much! This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Comprehensive, easy to follow, clear, and very helpful. Also do I now finally realise why all my work looks to "shitty" in my eyes, even though I have great ideas and the painting contains neat details. It's those damn DETAILS! I just block in rough colours and then focus on nothing but details details details and forget stuff like depth and proper light and shadow, which makes the painting look flat and weird. I will now practice at least one speedpaint EVERY day!
Thanks! You're a great artist! And this is a very helpful tutorial!

Thank you so very much! I've been depressed about my background skills (Skills? What Skills? XD) lately, and this was just the pick-me-up/Get-to-work-you-lazy-ass I needed! The tutorial was easy to follow, made it look easy enough with enough effort and time and practice, and was very informative and motivational!Β
