Catching up the gallery with some of the commissions I pulled together over the last couple weeks. This one, a really awesome shot of Witchblade. Really went a bit overboard with the details on this one. If you check really carefully on the full view, you'll see I even added little interiors and furnishings within the small windows in the background. I believe that it's always those tiny unnoticeable details that trick the mind into thinking the image is far more complex than it really is. Take a blank wall, seems completely undetailed. Then draw in a few suggestive lines for bricks here and there, and suddenly, the eye thinks the whole wall is made of bricks. Give just a couple of those bricks some cracking, and the mind will then think all the bricks are aged. Maybe a bit of dripping paint along the top, now the mind thinks the entire wall is older than time itself.
Just the small details. You don't have to draw every atom of a surface. But if you just put little hints here and there that there's more to the image, the mind will unconsciously fill in those details for you.
Except for Withblade's armor. I actually did have to zoom in and shade every quark individually.

This turned out great. I am glad to see you post this. I have a lot of my watchers post comment and send me messages asking how you did the gauntlet. I also have a lot of people asking to see your colors without the lines. I may just post a detailed area of the pic showing side by side.

I've seen a lot of colored images of Witchblade, and it wows me every time how the artist painstakingly renders that armor like that. That's the kind of patience I lack, that drove me to pursuing a simpler, more cartoonish style. Yours here seems far more meticulous than most; very well done.

I'm kind of in awe of this niche you've carved for yourself. I wouldn't have imagined that someone could charge to color other people's drawings, but... Damn do you do it, and damn do you deserve to do it.

It's been something I've been pursuing for the last five years as a contingency plan for an unfriendly hiring environment in the video gaming industry. After half a decade of struggling to get a foothold there while spending my free time building skills in an auxiliary skill like coloring, it's nice to be able to start having these images pay for the electricity they suck up to be made.
Because of this, I am always 100% grateful for my commissioners who give me work, and sincerely appreciate both their willingness to give me a shot and their upstanding handsome demeanor. Did I mention how handsome they are? Every single one of them, a dapper beacon of charming good looks and dagger sharp wit that drives Narcissus to write emotional sonnets about how he can no longer bear to look at his hideous visage in comparison.
