Description &
Original Lines by =transfuse : [link]

With ComiCon approaching this weekend, I decided to dig into my "to color" folder with the intent of finding something relatively geeky to lay my mitts on.

=transfuse had given me permission to color this beauty not even a week ago, but I felt that the content was appropriate enough to commemorate yet another celebration of the Comic Book culture and the throng of stalwart practitioners of the collecting discipline (nerds in layperson's terms).

Thanks. I really look forward to seeing what you make of it. That is, if you do, not to like push or anything.

Oh, and not to put reverse psychology into play either, lol.

But thank you so much, man. Thank YOU so much for creating a baller set of lines, and allowing me the opportunity to take a whirl with them. You're a color artist's blessing.

Haha, don't worry man. I'll be coloring this as well as the Tonks drawing as soon as I finish up this other life-sucking project I'm currently working on; should be done with it hopefully sometime this coming week.

At the risk of sounding really gay - awesome piece. Seven has got to be my favorite Star Trek chara next to Trip. I'm sure you needed to know that...

I've always enjoyed the "embraced outcast" sort of character in the Star Trek storylines. The kind of people who seem disconnected from the rest of the cast in a unique way, and because of such, are a goldmine of plot and character development as a lot of their interaction involves simply understanding humanity.

And with humans who, themselves, barely understand each other. Hey, Star Wars, where's YOUR Lieutenant Data, huh?

I have to admit, I was a huge Star Wars fan. I thought that since Star Trek was for TV, it would just be inferior as the standards for the medium are generally lower. But after giving a thorough fanfare to Star Trek: The Next Generation, I am a massive Trek fan. Trek over Wars anyday.

I'm in agreement with every point made. I respect both Star Trek and Star Wars; for storyline, Trek wins all the time. Wars is just a fun fantasy to escape into and stay there. (How to sum up a three paragraph post 101)

I went to work ''somewhere'' and there were lot of stuff given away, of course, I was not there for that, but to work... So I got nothin. But when it was over, my boss manage to get me some souvenirs!! He rocks!!

I soo understand how you felt!

Nice piece by the way! lol Keep it up!!

That's awesome. I really love cool bosses, and fortunately I'm blessed to have one as well.

There was one day when we had to work over Holiday. The Friday of the 4th of July Weekend. So to make us slightly less pissed off about working that day, they catered Chinese for us.

Well, they told my boss to get there at 1 with the team. The truck arrived at 11. Apparently they skipped a 1 in the email. So we arrive, and there's nothing but large tin trays, empty, except for a handful of cold soggy onions at the bottom.

My boss was so ticked, he twisted a few arms and for our team alone got us a massive pizza delivery. Meatlovers Pizza FTW.

Which reminds me. Funny story from yesterday.

So one of the test leads comes around to our section, and says "all right, how many of you wanted to go to ComiCon this weekend...but couldn't?"

A couple of us raise our hands.

"All right, you, you, you, and you, come with me real quick."

He brings us upstairs to a conference room. Apparently, one of the guys in marketing had just quit. He was the person who put a lot of the advertising in publications, particularly DC and Dark Horse. And when he completed a transaction, he would get ten copies of the comic gratis, and he'd hold onto a few of them as proofs of sales.

Well...

When he quit, he left them all behind. And on the table, stacked neatly, were HUNDREDS of various issues of various comics. They covered the table like a mosaic of graphic novel six inches deep. It was like a monolith of art and storytelling.

And only a handful of people in the building admitted to being comic book fans, and didn't go to ComiCon.

"Take what you'd like" explains the lead.

Suffice to say, I now have a TON of reference for getting just the style I want.

I'd like to credit "Claw the Unconquered" issue #1's cover for helping me find a nifty style for this piece.

It's like Korgoth of Barbaria meets Idle Hands. It's pretty kickass.
