April follows a classic tactic (which seems never to be followed in the movies) - crush the head of a snake, and the body will wither. Here with one devastating kick April nails the female leader, who is presumably the most skilled of the gang. With her followers now demoralized, April will have less trouble dispersing the rest of the ninjas.
