I don't get why the US Air Force didn't apply the knowledge from the ACTIVE program to the F-15 fleet and combine this with the advances made for the F-22 and F-35, that is what the russians did with the SU-35.

Newshiny disorder. They don't want better from what's already amazing, they want *new*. It's something that's plagued them since foundation.

But it doesn't make any sense, i checked the FY2017 Budget and they are spending over 165 Million dollarsΒ for each F-35 and i'm not even counting Operating costs, weapons, spares and training. Not to mention trying to replace aircraft like the F-15E and A-10 with the F-35 which are totally different.

Hey Kiki, it's six months late but the 2020 Air Force budget includes money to set up production for F-15XΒ Super Eagles, which includes all the advanced features on F-15SGs and F-15QAs plus the capacity for 20 missiles. Slightly cheaper than the F-35 and its supposed to save even more money on the long run since the X variant will seamlessly integrate into F-15C squadrons.Β
