Who am I? What are we? That's a pretty awkward question if I may asked myself. Why do I choose a GuyFawkes mask in the first place as my deviant ID? Is it because my real name speaks too softly? Or this mask would be more impactful?
All of these don't matter to me anymore, for all of us would be told to remember what Guy Fawkes really means to us from time to time. It's the very same, yet most desired thing which we would die for - Freedom.
Althought I have many things to share around but I may not able to do that as I've only got enough time for as long I live, I think I would try to express it all as much as possible, as Pablo Picasso said "We all know that art is not the truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth."
By midnight of zero hour November fifth, is the night for we to remember what Guy Fawkes really means to us. As for me, I have to pay my tribute to the face of this chap who really helps me to find myself in the minds of other deviants and of other sites. My name is V.

I loved the way you drew him, the way you made the shadowing is quite orignal (cause most of the time people draw with pencil, the imaged is "blured" to create the shadow)

GUY FAWKES' Day is not only in some rude sense a festival, and in some rude sense a religious festival; it is also, what is supremely symbolic and important, a winter religious festival. Here the 5th of November, which celebrates a paltry Christian quarrel, has a touch of the splendour of the 25th of December, which celebrates Christianity itself. Dickens and all the jolly English giants who write of the red firelight are grossly misunderstood in this matter. Prigs call them coarse and materialistic because they write about the punch and plum pudding of winter festivals. The prigs do not see that if these writers were really coarse and materialistic they would not write about winter feasts at all. Mere materialists would write about summer and the sun. The whole point of winter pleasure is that it is a defiant pleasure, a pleasure armed and at bay. The whole point is in the fierce contrast between the fire and wine within and the roaring rains outside. And some part of the sacredness of firelight we may allow to fireworks.

Indeed I can see you have a mind for his kind of thinking, but I have only one question for you...How much in the world of today is freedom worth.I do not know where you are from, but where I am we are at war.A war started by lies and a incompitent leader, but that no longer matters.What matters know is that we fight back to stay alive, to avenge deaths, and to find freedom.

Beautiful shading and composition...an almost exact likeness! However I wonder why the hat is not shaded....

To do a sketch, you can take every details down to match the real thing/subject in black/white. Then again, it would also turned you into camera or a photocopier if you don't learn to break the boundaries and be daring in your art sense.
As for this piece, there are no references for me and I did out of my imagination. Why I didn't shade the hat as well? The focus point of my subject is the head, body and arms which are more detailed. While the hat's surface is rather flat, so I thought of if I'd shaded the hat, it would disappear into the shades and strokes behind it. Therefore I leave it blank and so far, you're the first one to pay attention to it.
