I'm partial to your B&W work but these sepia-like renditions work too. You are excellent at what you do with these designs.

You know, I can't quite say how the decision between making a black and white image or a colored image is made. The creative process is its own enigma. Regardless, I'm happy that you enjoy the result!

I think that is a good way to create...just go with the flow and don't think too much about it

Fascinating to zoom in like this. I like how it brought out the detail in the big circle/sphere (it's dimension seems indeterminate) especially. Fine work, Vic.

Glad you like it, Richard! I published this detail primarily because of the composition, but it does allow better appreciation of the detail in the circular structure but also in the brownish foreground.

Yes, the composition is particularly nice. And the detail in the foreground too. This one makes me feel that I have a better grasp of what makes enigma tick - and that is only a feeling because really I don't! But I do see things that were not so clear before.

Do you get the sense that coloring the images might have something to do with it? Just curious, because although I enjoy black and white because of the contrasts in value that I can achieve, it seems that my colored images elicit more interest. It's something I've been pondering lately. Makes me wonder whether coloring the earlier images in the series might have been worthwhile. Of course, that's not what happened.

Yeah, I think coloring adds something, particularly because you didn't go overboard with it. But I really like your black and white work a lot.

VicEberly In reply to RichardLeach [2013-03-17 19:03:06 +0000 UTC]

Black and white is the ultimate not-going-overboard-with-color. But I've noticed that in your collages you tend toward less saturated colors as well, and frankly it's a large part of the appeal for me.

Thanks. I definitely do. I think maybe people... lean in to listen if the voice is quieter. I just made that up actually but there may be something to it.
