Description
Everyone uses Celestia as a replacement word for our word: "god" so then what does Celesita her self say? By the beard of Zeus it MUST be this!note: this was my first time drawing Celestia...ever....so it was internesting to say the least xD.
(Credit to the makers of Anchor Man for that quote)
NOTE: Guys the "Great Odin's Raven" is from Anchorman and so NO I will NOT add the names of the ravens nor will I use any other phrase. Thank you for the input though

Odin's Raven? Which one? Huginn or Munnin? I could also tell you all about the-
Now, now, I must stay composed. I wouldn't want to bore anyone with my massive amounts of Norse knowledge.

Well, if you're willing to tell me a story, I'm willing to listen/read. I mean, who can hate on a mythology where gods got a kick out of beating the crap out of an invincible god just because they knew he couldn't be harmed?

Hmm.. Well the Poetic Edda is brimmed with all sorts of fun tales.
Perhaps the story of Skrimfaxe, and Hrimfaxe, I believe that one's even relevent to the story of Celestia and Luna. Or maybe about the time Loki gave Mjolnir to a Giant Lord.
One of the tales about Odin as the Wanderer, or how he lost his eye(that's not much of a story, he simply had to throw an eye into Mimir's Well for a drink of it wisdom)?
There are so many!
Ooh! How 'bout one of my favorites! The title escapes me, but I'm sure it originates from the Poetic Edda.
The story is about three trials Thor is challenged to undertake by an ogre king. The first challenge was to drink all the liquid found within a drinking horn.
Thor undertook it as an easy endeavor, and drank from the horn. However, no matter how much he drank, he could not empty the horn. Immasculating that must seem, that the great god Thor couldn't drink all found within one small horn.
So, after the first defeat, the second trial was to wrestle an old woman, his grandmother. Another seemingly simple task, but no matter how much Thor struggled with this lady, he could only be tossed to the ground.
Once again Thor has failed a task that could be easy, rather humiliating.
And finally, the last trial was to pick up the paw of the ogre's giant cat.
Someone as strong as Thor should be able to manage- but no, even with all his might, he cannot.
After Thor has failed these three tasks, the ogre's plan to humilate Thor has been realized, and so he reveals his secret.
Thor was not just drinking ale from a horn, but a horn filled from the ocean, and nobody coould drink the entire ocean. Not only was that old woman his grandmother, but also old age; and who can battle old age? And finally, that cat was no cat, but the great serpent Jormundgard, a serpant so large it could wrap around the earth and bite its tail.
Thor becomes enraged by this trickery and lunges to attack, but the ogre king vanishes. Thus proving that not even Thor's great and awesome strength can beat that of nature. A great tale.
Let me know if you'd like to hear another.

It's a rather enjoyable collection of Thor's stories throughout the Norse era prior to it becoming Christian.

So, then, it doesn't have the story of Baldr's death? Or Sleipnir's birth?

ElvaRokk In reply to MidnightWonko [2013-04-07 20:02:11 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure. Seeing as how it was Loki responisble for the death of Baldr, and Thor and Loki are usually tied together in their stories, it is possible that Baldr's Death is in the Poetic Edda. As for Sleipnir's Birth, that would be something I'd read the Prose Edda for.

Which one, Celestia? Odin has two ravens.
That said, me and my buddy have used "ODIN'S RAVEN" as our go-to god-like figure to scream at the heavens to for years.
...I just sent this to him.
