Kate was born deaf, but thanks to her father, she has come to accept it part of her life. After her father's death, Kate was more or less thrown to the wolves in that she had depended on Calam's support, both financially and emotionally. It forced her to put a mental wall around her own emotions and become bit of a Bi**h, but it did lead her to become an educated architect and meet her husband Askr, who helped her break down that mental wall. During the time of where Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria was in financial trouble, Kate offered her expertise in designing buildings - mostly out of respect for her father. The first owner turned her down, but Scott made an agreement with her and thanks to her, the animatronics of Freddy's not only got the upgrade to have a semi-normal life, but she’s also the one who designed the whole layout to their new home.

When she learned the truth that all of the animatronics were past victims of Freddy's, she was filled with regret, knowing she has tortured several children spirits during the procedure of the Upgrade. (which is pretty much going through surgery without any form of anesthetic and fully awake). She felt so bad that she couldn't look at her father in the eyes. Goldie tried to ease her regret, but thanks to Vincent, she didn't get the chance. On the year when everyone thought that they disappeared, Kate convinced herself that it was for the best.

However, after their return, Goldie and Kate truly got the chance to speak. Goldie assured her that what she has done has helped the trapped spirits regain their humanity and are grateful for that. So then, Kate has gotten over most of her regret and was able to reconnect with her father again.

When the disease came, she had soul transferred into a pine marten animatronic and is renamed Penelope Pine Marten. In her animatronic form, she can turn on her audio systems and hear again, but only when she feels that she absolutely has to. Penelope is quite an introvert animatronic, so entertaining like her father isn’t something she can do. Instead, she thrives better in a quiet environment and working on making the best layout for Freddy’s indoor amusement park and pizzeria, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Kingdom. Penelope is incredibly smart and can speak tech-talk with the other mechanics, However, her smartness on technology comes more on the hardware and gets easily overwhelmed if trying to understand how software works (that's more Calem and Marion's field).
