Description
Here's some personal work! A sketch I had lying around and I decided to colour it.I've been reading the Tale of Genji and there's a character called Murasaki, which is also the Japanese name for Lavender. The pic is loosely based on the character and the rest is just my imagination.
PURPLEEEEEE!

i love this. Her eyes tells a story of sadness and the purple love the way you play with the color. Love the details and design pattern on her uchiki simple yet elegant. I love the shine on her hair. Is she the guardian spirit of the Sword or was she the holder of the sword? All and all i love it... great job.

She looks very beautiful, i love her hair and the tone of purple you use... yay purple!
Just in a smal correction, in kimono, the left side of the collar is - always - put on top of the right one. The only exception is in a dead person.
I'm sorry, I really don't want to sound picky, I really loved the picture, and that's actually why I bother to point this out... if you flip the pic, or fix the collar, it will look absolutely perfect, beauty and technically-wise...
By the way, I love how the kosode (upper kimono layers) falls low from her shoulders - many people make mistakes there and put the sleeves "cut" too high, but you made it look very natural, just like real kimono should be! ^^
Also, I love her posture and expression - very dignified, wonderful work portraying an elegant Heian lady!

Oh,! Now I realized I made a mistake with this name... these upper kimono are not called kosode, but uchiki - sorry for the mess up.

I had no idea about the collar thing! Thanks, I'll keep it in mind
Though, coincidentally, this character is actually dead, so it's appropriate to leave the collar as is.
Thank you for your lovely compliments, I'd love to consult this type of thing with you in future to avoid any further mistakes!

Oh, I see... this very appropriate,then! ^^
You're very wellcome!
I'm not an expert (since japanese traditional costume has so many fascinating detailed rules...) but I'll be most happy to help if I can!

Thank you very much, I'll probably be bothering you with advice on some details in future, since I have another Heian sketch that needs colouring!

the look in her eyes is so sad, almost mournful, it really flows with the color tone of the drawing.

Ah, I was already wondering where your new avatar came from :d
Lovely, so many gorgeous tones of purple. she seems sad though, and the darkness adds in an even more melancholic atmosphere as in grieve and afterlife.
Beautiful.
