I've been interested in the Wizard of Oz since I was about three years old, so I finally went and got Gregory Maguire's book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. This is the result

The book is making me cry, I just got to the bit where Fiyero is taken. I'm never gonna feel the same about watching the wizard of OZ again.

i love this! i have never read the book, seen the musical, and i did not like the movie (because the flying monkeys scared me and Dorthy's voice annoyed me) but i have the music from the Musical on CD and i love it!
anyways, enough about me...THIS DRAWING IS AMAZING! i love it! you are so talented, even the sketchy-ness of it adds to the look. the colouring is so beautiful, and i LOVE the background, how you incorporated so much of the stories into it so well.
i am a wicked witch fan, that's how i found this, and i LOVE how you drew her. BRAVO!

I have to ask, since it's not too likely that I'll be able to go see the Broadway version of it, where did you get the book? Since my brother put the Wicked soundtrack on my mp3player I've really wanted to watch the play or something; I'm really interested as to the plot of the show ad it's driving me nuts not being able to know what it is!
Gorgeous picture, I love everything in it! I especially like Glinda's frilly, puffy dress! I like the background behind Elphaba, it's so pretty, what with all that rich color!
