Sonic's power-ups might be Mobian Currency, but at least they aren't drugs. Seriously, it's a mushroom, that makes you bigger and keeps you alive. I reckon that Mario is a game about a plumber going to his girlfriend's (Peach) house but takes some magic mushrooms that cause him to see a fantasy world. He has to keep collecting mushrooms to maintain his trip (Stay alive) and kill a dragon to score, whilst people (Toads) tell him that he's gone to the wrong place.
